Mario great at upsell, Dwayne (hulk) does'nt honor discounts
This is your warning! Upsell you and tell you that you need to put a part on to fix the problem, after 1000.00 dollars the check engine light came on before 24 hours. Guess what need another part, Audi specialist is pathetic and lacks knowledge of Audis. Mario and hulk (office manager) full of BS. also they are threatened when you ask questions regarding the work. I should have received discounts and they refused to honor them. Dwayne offended when I didnt say Hi after the check engine light came on after telling me they fixed the problem. Sensitive boys when smart woman asks questions. got money to waste enjoy the ride!!!! When they said I needed a new timing belt/water pump again (replaced 2019) to fix problem I realized how pathetic they are Mario/Dwayne stay where you are you would never make it in the real world where accountability matters!

Griffin's Auto Repair is the very best for your Volkswagen, especially Westfalias.
First, his name is Jose! He is at the epicenter of knowledge as to how to repair and keep your Volkswagen alive and well. I've been going to Griffin’s Auto Repair for several years now and Jose has ALWAYS been able to diagnose correctly and repair my, "Westy!" He is so good, that he is actually gaining a much-deserved reputation as the guy to go to that can fix your Vanagon.

Just yesterday, I had Jose install new brakes and adjust them! Honestly, my van has never been able to stop as quickly and smoothly as now. When I took my van in, I was able to speak with Jose and he listened closely and diagnosed the issues. A few hours later, I received a phone call telling me that my van was ready. If possible, Griffin's tries to get your car back to you on the same day. Thank you, Thank you, Jose!!

Duane (sp) is your contact at Griffin’s Auto Repair. He is very knowledgeable and communicative. When your car or van is being serviced, he keeps you apprised of the status of the repairs. When you meet him, he is very personable and makes you feel comfortable

Finally, Abraham, the owner, has always checked with me to ensure that I am satisfied with the repairs. Thank you!

A/C repair 2005 chevy Avalanche
The best customer service I have encountered. The mechanics went to work on my A/C and had it fixed lick-ity split. Best mechanics and I just found the rare family owned repair shop and definitely recommend it to family and all friends. Best of all Best cost to repair. Loved it.

Ridiculously expensive.
Took my car in for a oil change and change of spark plugs, my husband asked around how much it was going to cost, was told a couple of hundred dollars. He picked up the car and total charges came up to $521.33, only to remove spark plugs and replace them it was $239.00 this is just outrageous. We were going there since they are the preferred RepairPal for the plan I bought when car was purchased, I will never go back again!!!

Excellent job
Sometimes you read a bad review, and unfortunately sometimes there are different opinions about the quality/price one deals with from an auto service/repair shop. Every circumstance is different and Griffin's can't do miracles. But for over five years they have always been fair and tried their best to help us get our auto needs done well and on time, with reasonable prices. They put a used rebuilt engine (about 40K mi) in our older Acura, and now it runs like a top. And their bid was well over $1000 less than a couple other repair shops gave me! In fact, one of their competitor's told me, "At that price - Go with Griffin's!" (No I'm not a Griffin's employee, I'm a pastor.)
I only wish they would bring back their coupon specials for regular customers! ;-)

Great work, experience with Volvo
I took my 2012 Volvo s60 to Griffin’s auto repair shop in San Diego a few weeks ago for a turbo gasket issue based on a referral. They have Volvo specialists on staff that figured out right away what the issues I had with my car were and came up with solutions that fit my budget and worked.

They were even able to quickly correct some brake issues made by another shop’s technicians that weren’t experienced with Volvos where they turned the rotors (which is a no-no) which gave me the feeling as if the brakes would fail in an emergency. Griffin’s was well aware of this issues as well as other Volvo issues and fixed it quickly at a reasonable price.

They work very fast and even though the shop is located in the downtown area, their labor rates are competitive to others. With all that said, I recommend Griffin’s and will continue to use their services for my Volvo

They Can Fix Your Vintage Car!
Wow! Finally, a car repair place that can actually do what they say they will do. I have an older BMW 740 sedan that I just love and want to keep. They did a fabulous job repairing leaks I've had for a long time. Other shops charged me but didn't fix anything. We have three older vintage-type cars (two BMWs and a Vanagon) and it's great to have a place to take them all.
Very convenient location. Off Fwy 5 at Front St. over to State.

Inflated Sticker Shock
Ive been coming to this place for 10 years but no longer - for one simple reason.. 9 months ago, I had my brakes done with a standard routine 5000 mile oil change. So I was due for another oil change this month and I scheduled it for early in the morning. I arrived right on time and spoke to a man that typed up the quote and said it would be an hour. I looked at the quote for a routine oil change and it was $178.00 DOLLARS!! I said "this can't be right." He looked and then Alexander (owner) was right there and said "oh yeah he's been coming here for long time." I told both of them this wasn't acceptable andI walked out. Needless to say - I shopped around and found other places to be half the cost for the same exact routine oil change. Mazda dealer $109.00 I had Evans Tires do it for $81.71 out the door. Griffin lost another great customer. I will NEVER go back there again.

Excellent attention and customer service, one stop shop!
I have a Land Rover that has been having issues since the manufacture's warranty ran out, so I been taking it to Griffin's since and they have saved me thousands of dollars compared to the dealership and my car has always been well taken care of and they have always been very transparent with their prices and fair with the part prices too. I take it in for regular oil changes and maintenance, they never try to up sell me or add more to the issue, Griffin's is definitely a shop I can trust and recommend.

Fast and high quality repair
My car started leaking gas so I checked the dealer and Griffin. Griffin talked to me and I was impressed. The dealer did not reply to me. Carlos listened to my amateur analysis and adjusted the repair plan to optimize the job. Even while I was there dropping off the car, he was ordering (OEM) parts to speed the process. By the end of the day, my car was repaired to my satisfaction. I will definitely use them again!

Excellent Customer Service st Griffin’s
I highly recommend Griffin’s Auto Repair shop. I was so happy with their quality work on my MINI Cooper, their timeliness and especially their pricing! I saved 75% by having my car repaired at Griffin’s, rather than the MINI Dealership, who quoted me first.

After my car sat idle for 4 days at the Dealership, the service manager finally responded to my calls about my car’s issue, and then they misdiagnosed the issue and quoted me a fortune to repair it. I am so happy that I shopped around and called Griffin’s for a second opinion. I was able to speak with Carlos over the phone and he immediately put my mind at ease by answering my questions and telling me what the game plan and approximate cost would be. They also completed the work within 2 days because they knew I needed my car back so I could get to some important appointments. Carlos is wonderful with customer service—he’s honest and realistic—which I like. I will only send my car to Griffin’s from now on.

Griffin’s Auto Repair’s Rip-off
- On December 02nd 2020 I brought in my vehicle in for service to Griffin’s Auto Repair.
- Griffin’s Auto Repair’s mechanic left a bolt in my engine (I was later informed by its unlicensed sub-contractor, to whom they assigned its repair)
- I returned it & Griffin’s Auto Repair promised its completion in 2 weeks

I’ve been waiting since

I returned my vehicle to Griffin’s Auto Repair to fix their damage:
1. They sub-contacted my truck’s repair to an out of business unlicensed & uninsured man - working from he’s house, without my consent. I’m uncertain if Griffin’s Auto Repair’s has insurance coverage on such an arrangement.
2. Griffin’s Auto Repair only communicated with me after aggressive followup with false updates & promises of completion on specific days, which never materialized
3. Upon realizing that Griffin’s is incapable of delivering as they promised and are unable to repair the damage that their technician caused to my vehicle, I’ve asked for its return. They refused.

Griffin’s Auto Repair’s poor integrity makes me sad.

They won my business. My Audi warranty was over, so I needed to find an auto repair place. I went in for an oil change, and they performed a complete check of my car. We discussed what needed to be worked on now and what I need to schedule for in the next few months. Thanks, I will be back for all future work.

I call the shop out of the blue from no where and this gentlemen answered like he knew I was going to call and like he knew me. He laughed and was very respectable to me like my Family/Friend. His name is Richard. He asked what was going on, I told him and he got me a quote I could have never imagined anyone would do for me. WOW!! This shop wants to fix your car, not take your money. They go so far to make sure they do just that. If they see something easier of what they previously thought/quoted, they will let you know and knock down the cost even more. I'm from Los Angeles and I have never seen any Shop ever do this anywhere in California. I teared up because I had been done wrong many times in my 50 years. They make you apart of the Griffin Auto Repair Family by giving you a Warranty that most can't get when they buy a new car in some cases. Unbelievable, but TRUE. Abraham, Richard, Carlos & The Mechanic are four of the best Great Spirits that The most High has created. Aman. Gratitude.

1974 VW Bus Running Strong!
Have been using Griffins to service my 2002 Toyota for a while now and always appreciated their great service. Recently got a 1974 VW bus and they have been helping me get the engine serviced, do valve adjustments, and fix up a few key issues over the last 6 months...and have been relying on them for advice and service. I just completed my first long trek - a 700 mile roadtrip in the bus to Joshua Tree, Lake Havasu, Quartzsite, Yuma and back....and the bus ran like a champ without a single issue. It starts up every time, climbs hills without issue - and ran strong across the desert. If you need work on a vintage VW, they do a great job and offer good solutions to help keep the vehicle running strong. So happy I put my VW in their hands - it gave me the confidence to set out on this trip and I'm already planning the next one.
