Verified CustomerWe performed an alignment on a Jeep Wrangler at the customer request after another shop had installed a lift kit on the vehicle. Prior to doing the actual installation we did a front end inspection and after we did the alignment we spent time with the customer explaining how the geometry of the lift kit could cause further problems, i.e. tire rub and axle. As a precaution we always go over what work was done prior to make sure we and the customer will not have a problem after we perform a full alignment. The technician assigned to this vehicle had actual clock time of 43 minutes, and did a road test/drive after the alignment. This included making sure the steering wheel was aligned. In addition, this technician is ASE certified and trained to perform alignments. What he does looks effortless but part of the expense of the repair is paying for his skills and knowledge.
Shop supplies and Haz waste fees are figured into every repair or service we perform. Having evaluated our costs of doing business versus the charges made to customers, we have implemented a blanket transaction fee in order to cover some of the hidden costs of doing business that usually do not end up being passed on to customers as line-item parts and labor charges.
It will serve both to cover ongoing everyday costs of doing business and act as a capital investment toward our future ability to serve you by funding training and the purchase of new equipment as required by new technologies.
Our alignment machine is a state of the art, computerized machine with the ability to give a true (including printout) of the alignment. Operating this machine, keeping it up to date with software and calibrated annually, cost money. This is where we calculate the cost of shop supplies and haz waste fees, rather than put on the repair ticket "misc. fees" with no blanket explanation.
