DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. I don't know how this place has so many good reviews. My girlfriend and I took her car here because it was making a weird noise after driving over a huge pile of snow and ice. I looked under the car myself before we took it to accountable auto care and I could see what looked like a heat shield, that was bent covering the drive shaft. I couldn't confirm it was bent because we didn't have jacks to lift the car. So I called accountable auto care and the owner Mark answered. He said he could look at it the same day which was great because it was around Christmas time (We normally go somewhere else but they were booked out). I asked Mark how much it would be to diagnose and look at the car; he didn't give me a straight answer. FIRST RED FLAG. Finally after asking again he said it could be around 30 dollars or a bit more. I thought around 30 dollars was reasonable so we took the car into accountable auto care. After a few hours Mark called back and reported that a loose axel nut was the problem and the diagnosis fee was 110 dollars. We were shocked at the price to diagnose the car, as 110 dollars is not even close to 30 but we decided to move forward because we needed the car to be fixed asap. We paid the 110 dollars and asked if Mark could apply some or all of the diagnosis fee to the actual repair of the car.... Mark said no. He said it was 20 dollars for the new nut and it would be another 100+ dollars to fix the car. Again we weren't to happy about that but we went ahead and paid for it just to get the car fixed quickly. Mark went to work "fixing" the car. He called us back when the car was "done" and gave us some unexpected news. Mark said he replaced the axel nut but the car is still making the same noise, so he told us we needed to replace the other nut on the other side. We said okay that's fine, so we thought it would be another 20 bucks for another nut. Mark said no, it would be another 100+ dollars bringing the grand total to fix the car to 300+ dollars. For a job that shouldn't take more than an hour and 40 dollars in parts. We were very unhappy at this point and told Mark we weren't going to fix the other nut and we were coming to pick up the car. Mark I believe trying to stop us from leaving a bad review told us he wouldn't charge us the 110 dollars to fix the car but we were banned from ever bringing our car back to be fixed again. WHAT? SECOND RED FLAG. So we only paid 110 dollars for the diagnosis and got the car back. After a week we were able to take the car into our normal mechanic. In a fews hours he called us back and told us the problem was a bent heat shield around the drive shaft and there was no problem with the axel nuts. He said it would cost 100 dollars to fix including the diagnosis fee. We got the car back and it drove fantastic. In conclusion, I highly suggest you avoid accountable auto care unless you like to waste time and money. I don't think Mark has an idea what he is doing and he is trying to take advantage of people. Just look at some of the yelp reviews. I hope this helps others avoid completely wasting time and money.

Bad experience
I had a couple of issues that needed to be addressed for my 89 Ford Bronco...leaking transmission and bad idle (idling jumping up and down). I dropped my vehicle off early Monday morning after speaking with the owner (Mark Gurnsey). Received no update all day Monday/Tuesday and Mark finally called me on Wednesday afternoon stating that they could not find a leak with the transmission (What?) and that the egr valve, egr sensor, IACV and connector tested bad and would need to be replaced for roughly $1200. I opted to proceed and Mark stated that they should have it done by the end of the next day (Thursday). They didn't call Thursday/Friday which surprised me since they are closed on the weekend. It was almost 5pm on Monday and still no phone call so I opted to call them. Mark said they were waiting on the egr connector to come in. Mark then called on Wednesday afternoon right before they were closing stating that they wanted to keep the car there as they had made all the repairs and it still was not idling correctly (it had been 10 days at this point). He suggested that it may need a new throttle body and/or have the ecc replaced which would be roughly another $1000. I called them back on Thursday and asked questions and Mark stated that they would be getting the throttle body that was an "exact" fit/OEM so I said I would think it over. I then called on Friday and spoke to someone name Cheryl who was rude and stated that she was "shocked" that Mark even took my Bronco into the shop (another red flag that they did not know what they were doing). Mark then called me back and it turns out he would be ordering the same throttle body that I could get on Amazon which had bad reviews (I felt I had to squeeze the truth out of him). Mark turned very defensive and agitated and had the nerve to state that I have had his loaner vehicle for some time now and that he had other customers that needed it (like I wouldn't rather have my vehicle back). I expressed that I went almost 5 days w/o an update from him and picked up my vehicle at that point on Friday. We had a somewhat cordial conversation and Mark admitted to "dropping the ball" several times. The paperwork did not have a full break down of cost and the price dropped by $75 or so after I asked for a full break down (another red flag). I provided Mark a check for the full amount of $1288.42 which he cashed that weekend. I drove off his lot and it ran terrible...it still was not idling right (up/down) and was idling too high at a stop which was a new issue. Also, it seemed to have a strange new sound coming from the engine compartment when I first started it up. I drove it right back and Mark's mechanic Johnny was still there. We went for a drive and he verified that it was not running correctly and would not accelerate and that Mark did not let him know. It turns out that they drove my vehicle around so much while testing for 12 days that it was almost out of gas which they failed to notice (red flag) so we added gas before heading back and that fixed the new acceleration issue. I noticed that the throttle body cover plate was missing and that the transmission dip stick had not even been fully pushed back into place which are very basic things (red flag). Johnny was able to retrieve the cover. I am left with a vehicle that idles worse than when I brought it to them and now I have a new "exhaust leak" issue that was not there prior to this work. I called Mark on Tuesday and explained this and expected some compassion and compromise but got the exact opposite. He stated that I depressed the gas pedal down all the way when test driving it and blew an exhaust manifold gasket (as if nobody ever presses their gas pedal down all the way) and w/o even looking at the vehicle to verify his claim and isn't willing to fix the idle issue that I paid for. Mark said I was rude and doesn't want my vehicle at his shop but couldn't provide an example when I asked him. He is making up lies and excuses at this point since he doesn't know how to repair my older vehicle.

Sloppy, unapologetic work
Our vehicle had a leak we suspected was coming from the Air Conditioner. We did A LOT of research before bringing it into Accountable Auto Care and thought highly of all the good reviews and recommendations. We were right about the leak and we asked them to complete a full inspection. They found so many issues that were wrong with a total cost estimate of over $4,000, including labor, what was quoted at just over $3700 because it was supposed to be a 3-day job. The cost of parts, supplies and tax was just under $1000. The most economical thing for us was to pay for the service instead of new car so we authorized the work. We were shocked when we were told our car was ready THE SAME DAY that the work was said to have started. This is between $300-400/hour for labor, which seems really high and I did not understand why it couldn't have been adjusted when the work was "done" faster than anticipated. I work in healthcare and I do not charge for unnecessary work or something that was quoted but not needed, that's honest business. When I went to pick-up the car, after being told it was ready, it was not, and they had me wait around 15 minutes before pulling it out front and it felt rushed like it wasn't actually ready. I got home and after a few days of driving it I noticed there were odd sounds coming from it. My husband inspected it and found that multiple screws/bolts for the engine were missing or left loose, someone left a tool UNDER the hood. How it didn't fall out while driving is beyond me. There were other fasteners not secured as well. My husband was shocked it didn't break down and tightened everything, removed the tool and replaced the bolts so it was safe for me to drive and proceeded to call Accountable Auto. He took it back in to ensure everything was looked at and the work was actually done considering how fast it was finished, but they said it appeared that he did a good job tightening everything, took the tool from him and subtly apologized. He didn't offer anything to us to remedy the situation or make it right after we spent so much money on it. I continued to notice some odd sounds and called the shop. They were responsive in calling me back, but their hours and my work schedule continued to conflict. Today, we brought it back for a scheduled oil change and my husband explained the noises I've been hearing. They recommended air filter replacements (which my husband already had on hand at home, just waiting to complete) so he declined. They couldn't find anything wrong otherwise and said the noise I was hearing may be the power steering motor going out. We paid them to replace the power steering hoses with the $4000 job; I do not understand how they didn't note the motor going out them when it was all examined and parts of it were replaced. When my husband brought it home to replace the air filters, he found that they left 1 of the 2 air filters out of the vehicle and didn't put it back. He also found that the power steering fluid was almost empty. How was this missed??? This is the second time we have taken this vehicle to them (technically third, with the post repair inspection) and the fourth time we've taken a vehicle here period. Between the almost unapologetic manner in the sloppiness of the work we paid a lot of money for and what happened today, we will never take a vehicle here again or recommend it. We trusted them with our vehicle without question, but this has broken our trust that any of the work we paid for was ever fully completed. We paid a lot of money for the work and continued to have sloppy, unapologetic service and no remedy for the situation.

Misdiagnosed
The shop misdiagnosed my car completely. They stated that my car needed a new engine due to misfire code. It was stated that the car had a blown head gasket. I took the car to another shop and diagnosed came in a faulty spark plug wire. The spark plug wires where replaced and the car run great.

Best Auto Care in North Denver Area
Mark and his staff are honest, dependable, and get the job done right the first time. Everyone knows finding a great mechanic is really tough these days. I've used Accountable for about 5 years and always been impressed with them. I've referred multiple friends and family to them as well!
I've been coming to Accountable for a while and have placed many reviews and what strikes me the most and why I keep posting such great reviews is that Mark and his team really shine through in their honesty and integrity. My vehicle (a Toyota Highlander with only 84K miles) was showing some weird electrical problems..... back latch and back windows would randomly pop open while driving and then recently while driving my kids to school, the heater blower just wouldn't turn on. Then suddenly it started working again. Mark and his team thought the problem may be in the computer modules (13 of them) and that they may need updating. Since I was due for an oil change anyway, I had them check into the other issues but found the computer had no updates. Some shops might just go ahead and bill for the update (even if none were available) or at least a pricey diagnostic but not Accountable. They were upfront all the way through and only charged me for the oil change. While my weird problems may not be solved, Mark and his team take the time to thoroughly explain the issues and what can be done to help diagnose. Great job guys!
I have owned several cars in my life and prior to finding Accountable Auto Care, been to many mechanics. I have had everything from the limping old vehicle that you are trying to get to last as long as possible to a nearly new vehicle. I have had to make some tough choices in whether or not to do the "recommended repairs" that mechanics had offered over the years in part because I was never sure if they were recommending it because it was critical or because they wanted the money. I have not worried about that once from These guys. Mark is very pragmatic, understands that a car owners preferences exist for a reason and makes recommendations based on safety and good maintenance and goes into enough detail for me to understand the difference. Their shop is always spotless, convenient waiting area to get stuff done and someone there to answer any questions you have. I have been going there now for 3-4 years and it has been a great experience every time.
Had to get a new starter and Aaron was very friendly and professional. They got it done in a timely manner and answered my questions. I will use them again
Having been with the same mechanic in Boulder for more than 20 years, when we moved to Broomfield, it was a little scary to venture out to find another person/operation that we felt we could trust and that would do excellent work. Well, we feel that we have accomplished that mission when we found Accountable Auto. Mark and the team are great at what they do and always make you feel that you are in good hands. Thanks so much guys, and if anyone is looking for service for their vehicle, you just came to the right place!
I have been using this place for over a year now and I am very pleased with the service I receive. Mark and Aaron are very accommodating and take the time to explain the service.
