Cellphone charging ports not working
I bought this Kona a little over a month ago and found out that the cellphone charging ports are not working. How could you sell a new vehicle with such defective? I went back to the dealer twice to report this issue and made an appointment today taking an hour off from work. To my dismay I was told that they can't do it right away, how could this be, this is not a maintenance issue, it's just a diagnostic to find out why the charging ports are not working.

This is not acceptable as the vehicle is new, how could Hyundai sell a defective vehicle. I handed the key to the manager to have it check immediately and seems that he doesn't care to have it done right away. I end up going home disappointed and feel like I needed a lawyer's help.

the most upsetting service experience
This place needs serious job training for the service coordinators. There is one person who is unprofessional, incompetent, and impolite. My recent experience with this place was the most upsetting and unfair in almost half a century long experience of my car service history.

Paul Berry's service appointment
I recently had by 2015 Sonata in for its scheduled maintenance and was very pleased with my overall experience especially my interaction with Jay. I was however frustrated when it came time to pay my bill. I attempted to use my debit card but it was rejected Both when I inserted it into your machine and when your cashier attempted the process. As a result my only option was to use my credit card, which cost me an extra $45. I was frustrated because I had earlier that same day successfully used my debit card and ,after retrieving my car, I had another occasion the same day to successfully use my debit card. My conclusion is that the problem was with your machine not my debit card.

Brianne was awesome throughout the entire car buying process. She made me feel super comfortable from the very beginning. I was initially coming in for a vandalism and total loss of my 2013 Jeep Compass and walked out with a 2021 Hyundai Kona. Would highly recommend her to anyone looking to buy a car and as a friend as well.

Short staffed
Seems like They have cut so much staff to make up for the built in maintenance costs as part of vehicle purchase

30 mins for service advisor to even greet you for your scheduled appt

20 mins to go thru sales pitch and get car checked in

3 hours to get oil changed for 15k service - this is with an appt

No Uber or driver service on weekends so you are stuck there in a minimalist waiting area

Car sat for 45mins after being brought up to be picked up while they tried to find the paperwork for I had to got tell service agents my car had been sitting there for +30mins outside

They don’t wash cars after service anymore due to covid cutbacks yet but wasn’t covid a few years ago?

The Glendora cardinale sales guys tell you that everything for maint is covered except for tires and interior cabin filter when you purchase the car. When you bring it to their sister dealer for service they try to sell you maintenance that is not included in the Hyundai covered maintenance program at such high prices.

Unsolved issue
Technicians unsolved issue what happened on my vehicle. I had done test drive with service advisor Saul and he heard the noises when i drove on FWY with 65mph to 75mph. Horrible customer service
By far the worst customer service I have ever received. Saul Mejia is very unprofessional and did not follow up with updates on my vehicle. Saul Mejia never returned my calls with updates and lied about when my vehicle will be completed. At 3:11pm, my vehicle was unlocked on Monday June 5, for the first time in 2 weeks to get the repairs done. I arrived at 4:30 and the car was still being worked on. At 5:15, car was complete and Saul Mejia took his time to complete the required paperwork to provide me, the customer. Saul Mejia got verbal with my brother and me and postured in an aggressive manner at my brother, in an attempt to fight and get him out of the dealership. Very unprofessional.

Service scam dealership
What scam is being run here?

Ok, I’ll make this as short and concise as possible because if I have to spend another wasteful minute of my life with this dealership I’m gonna send them an invoice for my time. But you NEED to know that service does not exist at this dealership, either that or they are running a service scam that charges you for services that are included in your warranty only to have you literally chase the money they overcharged you for for over a month. Here’s the short of it.

- Saturday May 6th gets oil changed. Saul charges $55 for oil change (which is covered under warranty) shouldn’t have been charged for. Saul states accounting isn’t there and he has to speak with them on Monday. Fine, not happy they can’t fix it there and then but it’s only going to be fixed and sent to me.
- Monday May 8th, Saul gave me his cell to text him as seen in picture he confirmed my address and stated the ‘check is in the mail man’ and I will receive it 5-10 business days. Great, easy peazy no biggie. Should have been the end of it.
- It’s Friday May 26th, I haven’t received a check in the mail. Clearly there has been enough elapsed time to have had it sent out to me but I hadn’t received it yet. I text Saul, no response. I call the dealership and speak with Kevin, service manager I believe he said. I explain to him, he contacted Saul to confirm and then proceeded to go have a conversation with accounting. Comes back 5 minutes later, apologizes for the delay and says yep we owe you $55 for the overcharge and I have confirmed it with accounting that you will receive a check 3-5 business days. Ok finally I’m done tracking down my $55 owed to me and a manager has resolved it.
- Thursday June 8th nothing has been received, I said let’s give until Monday June 12th just to make sure it & if doesn’t arrive then I’ll just head on down to the dealership myself and speak with a General Manager or equivalent.
- Monday June 12th nothing received. I’m a stay at home dad so I had to inconvenience my mother in law to watch my kiddo while I invest even more of my time to chase down my $55 that CardinaleWay Hyundai of El Monte presumably accidentally charged me nearly 6 weeks prior and has given me their word on 2 different occasions by 2 different people that a check has been approved by accounting and is in fact being mailed to me. Upon arriving I ask to speak to a General Manager and Robert and I sit down as I lay out in detail my incomprehensible experience with this situation. He says give me 10 and I’ll figure it. Walks out 10 minutes later, pulls $55 from petty cash and basically says sorry man have a good day.

I’m trying to wrap my head around what just happened and why it took me over a dozen phone calls, texts and me personally taking time away from my kid just to drive to your dealership for a messily $55. I should be sending you guys an invoice for the time and effort I had to spend to get back what was mine. But instead I’m letting others know of the level of service you provide in hopes no one else has to go through what I have had to. I wasn’t even offered a free car wash for my inconvenience. It was almost like I was inconveniencing them.

What a joke of service CardinaleWay Hyundai of El Monte. Be better. I love my car, and for that reason I’ll never trust this location to touch it again.
