Skills lacking for Subaru bumper painting
Sometimes little details make a big impact.
Something as common as how the tape is applied can make the job look great or amateur. In my case the tape was at the wrong side of a crease which brought the paint down onto the cladding on the rear corners of my Crosstrek. It was immediately noticeable. Taking the paint off was not practical so they attempted to mix paint that matched the graphite color of the cladding and make it more even. Not successful. I am refusing a new bumper because my confidence in a quality repair is gone, and my patience went with it.

Happy with experience despite delays
Crash Champions was a preferred shop of the other driver’s insurance after we were rear ended. Being they were Subaru certified, convenient, and seemed to have good reviews, we decided to use them. The new facilities were nice; staff was friendly & professional. The repairs took longer than promised (45 days instead of 30), but post-pandemic, we know supply & staffing can be an issue. Initially, communication about the progress was good; once we passed the original promised date, the updates kind of stopped. That’s our only complaint. The car looks great. Hope we never need them again, but would definitely go back if necessary.

If you have a specialty car, I would try another shop.
I hate to write this review but I don’t want an unsuspecting person to have a bad experience in an already stressful situation.

Initial repairs were unacceptable. Was told by employees when I picked up my car that excessive body gaps were normal and vibrations after the repairs were normal wear and tear. Even their mechanic came out to tell me the car was fine and that he test drove it. I can tell you as an automotive engineer that the condition my car returned in was not acceptable.

I have a specialty car, requires specific parts that cannot be interchanged with other models or certain years, even though those other parts technically will fit. They used parts that were not correct for my trim and modem year updates. Also the salvaged OEM parts they used will likely be from the area, meaning they will have Midwest rust. Some of the parts they used were even visibly damaged. The shop wants to turn cars around quickly, so if you are very picky about what goes on your car it will be overlooked.

The initial repair cost was ~$8,500. After I complained about the issues with the car the second repair total went up to ~$15,000. That is about half the value of the car. Makes you wonder if they wanted to get the car rolling on 4 wheels so that it wasn’t totaled to begin with.
