Oil leak, bad news on a weekend. Firestone to the rescue!
Kudos to Kevin and Robert and the Firestone team who squeezed us in on a Sunday to fix an oil leak. Not just an occasional drip, this leak in our 2012 Subaru Outback was a drip, drip, drip mess and didn't bode well for quick and inexpensive fix. And my wife really needed her car that next week.
Oil leaked somewhere from the bottom of our engine and all over the exhaust and then onto the driveway. It was a mess and, of course, not getting any better. Only wanted to drive the Subaru far enough to get it looked at and repaired. Kevin advised us to bring it in on a Sunday morning. We did and Robert checked us in. Said he'd squeeze us in and give us a call that afternoon.
Fearing the worst, when Robert called...he explained it took their technician some time to figure out where the leak was coming from. Had to run the engine while the car was up on the lift to finally trace it to a pinhole leak in the oil filter. He recommended an oil change and a new filter. I was thinking head gasket, or any number of things that would be expensive to fix and/or require the Subaru to be in the shop for days. What a relief. And we needed an oil change anyway!
So this Firestone team squeezed us in on a busy Sunday, correctly diagnosed the problem and fixed it for about the cost of a premium oil change which we needed anyway. I couldn't be more pleased. We will take our cars there from now on.
