Get a written quote first before service
My RAV4 steering wheel is off center when I drive straight toward. I took it to this Oradell NJ service center for an alignment. The technician called me telling that the struts of front axle need to be replaced and also the four tires should be replaced. He quoted $312 for the struts and $189 per tire. I confirmed that is the total cost. When I picked up the car Friday, the total cost became $2,222.18. It turned out that the shop charged $375 per strut for part or $750 for the pair and then $69 per link plus $325 for installation and $99.95 for 4 wheel alignment. I questioned and was told that I heard it wrong. So I paid $1,300 for replacing a pair of struts while my research indicated it should cost less than $600 to replace a pair of struts. I learned my lesson and hope you can avoid similar mistakes.
