Completely ripped off!
My rebuilt transmission went out after 2 months and less then 800 miles. The owner Steve told me to "fk off" after I waited 3 weeks, spent $1,000 on a rental car, when I asked him for a refund since he wouldn't honor his work, word, or warranty. Go to Hartnell transmission. Anywhere but here

Terrible experience
Spent $3,600 and I rebuilt transmission for my Ford and 800 miles later it failed. At this point 10 days later nothing has happened the warranty in writing doesn't mean a thing to the owner. This company doesn't give a damn that I'm in a rural area stranded 45 miles from the nearest grocery store and 10 days later nothing has happened. The owner Steve told me not to worry about it and he would do the right thing the right thing doesn't take 10 days the right thing should consist of a phone call a transmission ordered online and delivered within 24 hours like it can be, and this customer who paid $3,600 cash taken care of.
I've been put off I've been lied to I've been ripped off. I write this review only to help others to beware to watch out and do not go here there are other transmission shops in Redding. Do not go to this one.

800 miles and transmission worse then when I brought it there
Put 800 miles on my rebuilt transmission that cost me $3, 600.00 and it failed it's worse than when I brought it there. It's been 2 weeks and nothing has happened it's under warranty the only refuses to work any faster while I'm stuck paying $50 a day for a rental car. Read the Google reviews this shop has got a terrible reputation.

Transmission failed after 800 MI
How to rebuild transmission put in my Ford 2 months and 800 miles later it's worse than what I brought it there. Was under a 12-month 12,000 mile warranty the owner refuses to I don't know warranty unless I wait three to four weeks for him to find a rebuilt transmission when you can get one from AutoZone shipped within 24 hours. The owner Steve avoiding my phone calls wouldn't call me back and when I finally got a hold of them he seemed very unconcerned unprofessional and unwilling to honor his warranty or his word that everything would be taken care of in a timely matter. He said he would do the right thing the right thing is not taking weeks to honor his word and the $3,651 cash I gave him for his services

Transmission failed after 800 miles

Had my transmission done there. Was impressed at the time that they were able to do it so quickly 3 to 4 days. I drove on the transmission 800 miles and it went out and it's worse than when I first brought it there. When I first contacted Steve the owner he told me not to worry we would do the right thing and he would take care of it. I took four days for me to get a hold of him after leaving a message and not being called back, and $200 later on rental car fees only to be told it could take 2 to 3 weeks to get a transmission to where I'm at. I had no idea doing the right thing would take so long? You can buy a transmission at AutoZone and have it shipped within 24 hours. Steve the owner also said he had a core at the shop that would work for my truck, and how much do you want to bet it's from the transmission they took out of my Ford when I first took it there? When on the phone he tried to blame it on the fact that I towed a travel trailer. The facts are I towed the trailer one day on March 1st 400 miles, it's a 16' cadet ultra light, weighing around 2,200#'s and besides the warranty says nothing about towing anything. And yes I can prove this at the park I'm at, with neighbors, security video etc. The transmission didn't go out until a few hundred miles later. I will be looking into a fair and reasonable amount of time for a warranty to be honored and I will update this review as time goes on. I'm in a very rural area I'm 54 yrs old, paid them in CASH, and reading the reviews over the past year, bad business practice seems to be standard here?
Steve last week you said you would do the right thing, so do the right thing. it shouldn't take that WEEKS. You said you were busy working when I asked how you were, this should be your top priority you should be busy working on taking care of this customer who feels like he's been ripped off. WEEKS? I will not be put off for weeks.

Warning does not warrant work and word
Went to Protrans after transmission went out on family vacation up to Shasta I was recommended by AAA service center which do not use their recommendation for Protrans in Redding Ca. After having giving a bull line by Steve the owner of Protrans that the transmission that was being installed was a better updated transmission and was told that the warranty was a premium warranty from his source for transmissions. Which is Transtar industries 36 month 100,000 mile. I approved the work after in trusting in Steve as a profession in his trade. After being called that truck was ready for pick-up I had paid the $4,500.00 bill I took truck for a test spin and truck engine light came on I brought back and was told by Steve at Protrans it was a sensor so waiting the day for problem and being told it was resolved. (I believe that the transmission was still the issue due to my current situation today). After a month with no issues I was driving and check engine light came on and said pull over due to engine problem after calling a tow truck to take to my mechanic not knowing situation. A diagnostic report came back from new mechanic that the transmission has failed in diagnostic report due to TSB inside transmission needed to be re flashed which updates the new transmission with the computer system with the truck and if not re flashed will cause damage and from conversation between my mechanic and Steve it was not done which we have in writing from my mechanic Which according to my conversation is Steve at Protrans Steve did not have the right equipment to do. So after 2 weeks of trying to get transmission sent to have fixed due to Steve and Transtar not agreeing on warrantied transmission it was finally sent to my mechanic in Santa Rosa and when new transmission was sent transmission pan was warped and needed to be replaced so now I have another bad transmission from a shady mechanic Steve at Protrans and his source for parts Transtar out of Sacramento Ca. So after conversation with Steve owner at Protrans he was going to reinbursed for the extra cost which is now up to $2,400.00 over and above cost of $4,500 I had initially paid and still feel uncomfortable with the new transmission provided due to service and experience I had with Steve owner at Protrans in Redding Ca I have written a certified letter with no reply and after reading other complaints on Google and how he is not professional with how he acts in a problem as he does not warrant his work fully and professionally acts. I am now going to send complaints to the Department of California Bar Bureau of auto repair as well as all social media Google /yelp and all the sources I am also going to file a civil lawsuit for the new repairs and time truck was down due to it is my work vehicle and was needed for work as well as having to pursue recouping funds. Do not trust Protrans or Steve read the reviews first make a sound decision on mechanic you decide to choose to fix your vehicle which I should had done my diligence and reading Steve at Protrans reviews. Steve you should honor your work and your word!!!! (You are terrible as a professional). I am glad I got the truth from another mechanic.

Tried to Save Me Money
I have had a different car in this shop for repairs before. Now all I care about is quality work. The owner assured me that I could get the work done somewhere else for less money. I said, “Really. Really? How much is peace of mind worth? I’d rather know I can trust excellent work because I can’t fix my own car.”
