It's always the upset guys...
I was a little skeptical about using Texoma Classics because of the reviews on this site, but I am glad I listened to my gut and decided to try them anyways! Great work I am very happy with my car

Very disappointing experience
This was the most disappointing and frustrating experience I've had with a mechanic shop in 20 years. They had my car at their shop for almost a year, went $7000 over budget, lost several of the original parts off of the car and told me that they would not return my vehicle unless I agreed to sign an NDA saying I wouldn't talk about my experience with their shop. I brought them a running vehicle and got back a non working car with bad welds, poor parts installation, overheating and unsafe brakes.

I tried working this out with them directly, then took it to the Better Business Bureau and now, as of this review, am having to enter into a lawsuit against Texoma Classics.

I sent them a running vehicle to get an engine/tranny swap, upgrade the brakes, power steering, and wiring. All of this was stated upfront before entering into anything. It was supposed to be a 3 month project with a 20K budget but they had my car for almost a year. What I got back was a non-running vehicle that could not pass inspection and was missing several of its original parts. Texoma misplaced/lost:

The original 216 engine
The original instrument cluster
The emergency brake
The hood springs that hold it up
One original hub cap

At one point, they told me they would not return my car unless I signed an NDA. I declined and reached out to a lawyer. Afterwards the owner Chris told me that it was not a demand, only a request not to talk about my experience with Texoma and that my car was being returned.

One of the biggest disappointments was being convinced by Ed and his team that I should go with a used engine and tranny they had found, assuring me it was a good deal, good quality and would save a ton of money over buying the new one we had already agreed on. In the end, the used engine cost me several thousands more in labor than a new engine would have and still they only did a minor rebuild, even though their invoice has over 100 hours of labor.

Texoma claims the customer is responsible for everything but why would you hire an expert and then not take their advice? I was led towards these items and misled about their costs and issues after buying.

After getting another shop's opinion on the work and talking with a lawyer, we tried to reason with Texoma and find a solution. They often use the excuse that “you were not charged for the work” but they did still accept full payment for ALL of the original scope of work, while only completing a third of the agreed work. I only found out about this AFTER I had paid for everything and the car was returned, not working.

They also used the excuse that “it is an old car and these things happen.” But we had weekly check-ins for the first couple of months and their shop managers always told me how smooth everything was going and what great shape the car was in.

Having yet another mechanic look at it, they also found metal in the oil and believe it is from the camshaft not being broken in properly. Texoma installed and damaged two brand new camshafts.

Our family lost over $25,000 on this project and still do not have a safe or running vehicle.

Texoma told my lawyer that they would be willing to take the car back and fix any labor installation issues under their warranty as long as it wasnt part related (even though they purchased all of the parts) but they have also said they didn't touch most of the engine during the swap and rebuild and lost many of our car parts. I'm not sure how I could trust sending them the car again.

They keep saying, I chose used parts so I got used quality. The issue is not the used parts. The improper installation of the parts is the problem. The negligence and the poor customer service is the problem.

I really thought that Texoma Classics would have handled this more professionally. I would not recommend their shop to anyone.

sub par facilities
Go and inspect before you sign anything ,
the paint booth is for doing small parts not complete paint jobs .
The air drying system is no where close to correct , it will spray water on your project and will ruin your car.

the body shop is actually in the paint shop and sucks the dirt from there right onto your paint job .

The paint is sub par
low line , cheapest , sherwin williams sold at napa auto parts store.

They will bill you for a paint stick that doesn't cost them anything .

i wouldn't let them paint my lawn mower let alone my classic car.
The owner Chris is a total jerk to his employees , how anyone would work for him is beyond me , i actually heard him yelling at an employee dropping F bombs every third word.

My advice is to stay as far away from this place as possible .
i would hate to have to deal with him after he fubared my car .
so before you sign anything go check out the shop, and see for yourself .

stay as far away from this place ,
they haven't a clue or they don't care or both .
check out the cars they have done that are at the shop while your there.
trash in the paint everywhere,
body lines that wave at you as you walk by .
if you already have a car there i would get it out immediately and ask for full refund , your gonna have to redo whatever they have done to your vehicle .

Highway Robbery
This place is a joke; they have no idea of why professionalism is. The two stooges that I dealt w/, Richard Campbell and Ed Harper, like to play good cop/bad cop to justify their outrageous fees. When I received my vehicle back, I had wire holding up my muffler, my vehicle was not aligned and had more problems than I originally had, plus they charged double what I said my max amount was. To top it all, the owner, Chris, says that he hates the business! Easy to see why, this place is a joke!!

Auto Restoration the Right Way
I had them evaluate a 1965 Ford Mustang that had been stored in our barn for almost 15 years. Needless to say, the car had some prior damage and the length of time had taken its toll too. Texoma Classics ran me through an extensive list to pick and choose what I wanted or needed to do on the car. Once that was completed, a dollar value was placed on those items so I could pick and choose where I wanted to spend the dollars budgeted for restoring the car. They made it very clear that given the age and storage conditions prior to the car arriving at their shop, unforeseen issues may present themselves. They stressed that the budget would be strictly adhered to and any issues brought to my attention immediately. I then had the choice to approve or disapprove the item based on its cost and my budget. I was in total control of the budget and kept up to date weekly via their online portal. If something new or not on my approved list was found, Texoma Classics notified me immediately before proceeding. Photos of the process, progress and finally the finished product were in the portal too so I could truly see what was happening from the disassembly to the re-assembly and finally, the finished project. The project cost more than I had planned on but only due to a couple of rust issues none of us could see until the car was taken apart. I have total confidence in the work that was done and the paint job on the car was beyond beautiful. I am proud of having this car back in road ready condition and even more proud of how it looks. Thank you to the team at Texoma Classics.

Run....
Run to another mechanic, because your car won't be running! If you care about your classic car, do yourself a favor and take it elsewhere. Not very knowledgeable. Prices are CRAZY high for substandard work. My once reliable car has not been right ever since I made the mistake of taking it here. I apologize to my car every day for putting it through such abuse. Still looking for someone around the Texoma area that actually knows what they are doing :(

Great Quality and People
I have had a number of my cars to all of the shops in the area and not happy with the service that I received. So gave Texoma Classics a try. I have to say I finally found a shop I can deal with and feel good about taking my cars to. If anything these guys were way anal on keeping me informed. I got an up front, what they call their Christmas List for pricing and they explained the potential problems of doing a restoration. I received weekly updates in both writing and a phone call from their shop manager. Doing a restoration is not cheap but if your going to do one I would highly reccomend Texoma Classics.

Absolute joke
If you like some place to have a free run at your bank account this is your place. I brought in a 71 nova to have an engine built and installed. The old one had to be pulled and the new one fitted. Not much of a big deal but the labor hours was insane. The very few parts they bought and labor by the hour ran 9500 bucks. I'm not done yet. The engine and lighting wireing was to be replaced and they were payed to do it and they didnt. Gave me two different stories about the harness and then finally said it didnt deed it and the money was used towards labor costs. After getting my car home I found several finger tight bolts on the engine and surrounding areas. I'm still in the process of checking everything myself. This is no doubt the worst experience from a shop I've ever had and I will not go back or recommend them to anyone ever

Deceptive billing
They quote you a price and then try to extort you for more without the numbers to back it up. My daughter is a victim of this scam. Trying to extort 17,000.00 that they "accidentally" forgot to bill. Stay away fromt texoma!
