When Steven originally brought in the transmission out of vehicle for the shift shaft repair, we noted that the transmission was failing internally, and we recommended that the transmission be rebuilt. After 4 months Steven reached out to us again and let us know the vehicle will not shift into gear. We will need to inspect the transmission for proper diagnostics. We did recommend the vehicle be towed in for inspection.
Once the vehicle was here, we did find an error in the installation of the shift shaft. We did correct this error and again recommended that the transmission be rebuilt. Due to budget restrictions this was not an option at the time of service. Once the repair was complete the tech was going to drive the vehicle for the first time. The tech found the brakes have a fading pedal and the fluid is full. Engine has horrible misfire at start up, possible dead cylinder. Due to this the vehicle was not safe to drive on the roads. The tech noted the transmission slips in Reverse and in Drive. Just as we had stated originally, this transmission is failing internally and needs to be rebuilt. This is why the transmission only has 2 good working gear out of 4.
We did not charge you for the removal or installation of this repair, and we did not perform them on the original repairs. Our warranty states on out of vehicle transmission repairs, this does not cover such things as towing, loss of use, loss of earnings, personal damage, per diem expenses, or any other consequential or incidental damages. The warrantor’s obligation under this warranty is limited to replacing or repairing defective parts and correcting defectively furnished labor.
We went above and beyond to pull this transmission, repair the internals along with re installing the transmission. Durning this entire process we have asked for your permission on multiple occasions to allow us to rebuild this transmission due to the internal parts damage and condition. Unfortunately, you have not allowed us the opportunity to fix it correctly. Moving forward with whoever you choose to have rebuild this transmission, really consider their advice or recommendations. When a professional asks for permission to repair what they know is bad, this is to prevent you from mechanical breakdown or dissatisfaction from the lack of performance.
