740e: it’s like a giant Prius, only better!
We live in a an eco-obsessed, socialist, car-hating town (Seattle). So our PHEV 7 series scoots under the radar of most people’s judgmental attitude toward conspicuous consumption. Added bonus, even with 19” wheels it gets along on our washed out, cracked, and otherwise horribly maintained roads with ease. Love the air suspension and ability to run silently on electric power for nearly 20 miles (in summer months). Adaptive cruise with steering assist also makes easy work of Seattle’s awful traffic conditions both downtown and in rush hour. With a tiny turbocharged 4 cyl. this gas-electric sofa really does get out of its own way. It loves to blast down on the open road with plenty of of pep for overtaking on the highway and devouring cross country road miles. It’s kind of the perfect car: agile when it needs to be, soft and floaty when I want it to be and we are averaging 50+ mpg with routine home charging. Icing on the cake is that most people think it’s a 3 or 5 series and not a $100,000+ vehicle.
