Best value for the money
Just rolled over 83,000 miles on this truck bought in Oct 2011 as a model year close out. Got a fair price from the dealership. I think partly that I told them up front I wasn't really concerned with the getting the latest/new year model, but I did want a 'new' vehicle. So far this truck has performed with minimal maintenance (oil, filters, tires, wiper blades, etc.). I am a stickler for maintenance and get the basics tended to religiously. My mechanic has the same truck, same year and said that he sees fewer of this years make and model come through his shop than any Chevy, Ford, Nissan, Toyota. Whatever GMC did right on parts, design, and build I hope they do again when I buy my next GMC...With proper maintenance my mechanic says I should get 200,000-250,000 miles out of this truck. The ONLY complaint that I have is that the salesman said I could keep it in Automatic on the wheel drive and let the computer decide whether it should be in 2 wheel, 4 wheel. Started to develop a kind of clanking sound. My mechanic told me to keep it in 2 wheel unless I determine that 4 wheel is necessary, otherwise I will wear out the U-joints prematurely. Followed his advice and clanking stopped. Now only switch to 4 wheel when I decide it needs it. I think that GMC knows this is an issue, but the dealerships WANT you to wear them out and come back to them for the costly repairs. Other than that one issue, I will buy another GMC.
