5th Elantra for a reason
I have owned 6 Hyundai's over the last 20 years, (1 Accent and 5 Elantra's). They have always performed flawlessly which is why I keep returning. During the last 20 years I have lived in 5 different states, so my experiences with these cars have been in all weather extremes, from blizzards in New England, where the traction in snow was amazing, often passing AWD SUV's slipping around, to 160 mile daily commutes in New Mexico, where the cars tracked straight in some crazy spring winds. To my AC blowing ice cold through the intense summers of Phoenix. The real test was when a drunk driver in a 1 ton, crew cab, 4x4 truck fell asleep and rear ended my car and pushed me into a telephone pole. I walked away with a bruise from my seatbelt and a very dull neck ache that Advil took away. Not that I hope to find out ever again, but these cars are impressive on how well they protect you in an accident.
My current car is a 2017 Value Edition, I love it. Ton of features for the money, the safety tech is great and it has been very reliable. I did just have a battery replaced which Hyundai road Assistance came and jump started me and the dealer replaced for free. (Batteries only last around 2 years in Phoenix - they last much longer in other areas). The car is comfortable, gas mileage is better than any of my previous cars, I average 26-30 in town and 38-45 MPG on highways. My 2012 could hit high 30's but never was able to break 40's and this has been consistent on most of my trips. My insurance dropped by $300 a year when I went to the 2017, because the safety tech. I pay $430 less to insure my newer car than my partners 2012 Ford Fiesta.
If I had any complaints about my car, is that I wish the top part of the door trim was padded, the hard plastic can get uncomfortable on long trips.
I am Hyundai for life and will definitely be looking at another one when I decide to trade in. The new Sonata might be my upgrade.
