We had an awesome 2013 Elantra that was totaled in an accident, and decided to replace it with another Elantra. The 2020 was less expensive that the used models with 25K+ miles on them, and had a ton of safety features, which lured me in. The car itself is nice and had a lot of great safety features, but we definitely miss the heated seats and the CD player. But the real deception was the tires that come on this car - they are no good on grooved surfaces, particular highways. We live in the Bay Area with several rain-grooved freeways/bridges, and it is terrifying to drive on any one of them even in dry weather. The car pulls as if you are in a huge wind storm and you have to grip the steering wheel to keep it in the lanes. Unfortunately I did not test drive this car on one of those surfaces (sine we had no problems with the former Elantra), so I did not realize just how bad the tires would track the rain grooves and make it feel like the car is out of control. Hyundai says it is a "road issue" and not a "car issue" and therefore it is not their problem. So unless you are ready to spend another $600+ on a better set of tires right off the bat - and I am not even sure that fixes the problem - then beware if you will be driving on any grooved roads.
