Great Features but Unacceptable Road Noise
The Ioniq delivers great gas mileage, and it affords solid safety features: blind spot monitoring, lane change assist, and rear cross traffic alert. A power adjustabt driver's seat and dual climate control are also desirable features. It has adeguate interior space for passengers and cargo. However, the interior trim is bland with a lot of hard plastic.
All of these strong points are undone by an unacceptabe level of cabin noise; tire noise in particular is deafening. At highway speed on Southern California roads, it is not possible to carry on a conversation without shouting, and, even on city streets with anything but new asphalt, the tire noise is too loud.
The car come without any sound deadening material installed. The cost to install after market material ranges from $1,250 to $2, 000.
I would not recommend this vehicle and would not buy another in the future.
