2nd Kona EV in less than a year
My first ever EV, I loved my KONA EV 2020. I was able to get a unique color (celestial blue), loved the way it drove, but had multiple servicings for brake and regenerative braking issues, causing me to be without the car for over 6 weeks while awaiting parts and getting issues resolved. Sadly, I initiated the buy back process permitted by the Oregon Lemon Law, and just recently replaced my beloved blue 2020 Kona EV with a red 2021 Kona EV, a far from unique color. The color availability for the EVs is REALLY disappointing for EVs vs. gas Konas. You're buying an electric car, and in my case, wanted an equally electric color....but there were none, period. I really like the way my Kona EV drives and am committed to electric. Fortunately, the 2021 has a somewhat larger range (~ 250 vs. 300 miles), but I hate the fact that I had to give up my blue Kona for a mundane red model due to quality issues. Also, heartbreakingly, I just noticed a small scratch high on the rear drivers side, with white showing thru, and wonder is the paint job so thin that it's so easily scratched with what appears to be a glancing touch situation? When purchasing both vehicles, the sales people spent very minimal time reviewing features and I think it's a severe lack that no training is provided first time EV purchasers.... Subaru provides training for just a normal gas car to make sure purchasers are aware of all features!! And, BTW, your dealership decorations/decor seem cheap and uninviting to spend any time while waiting for a car to be serviced. Overall, I expected so much more when purchasing a fairly expensive $43K plus car....twice within less than a year!
