Perfect Family Car
This car is amazing overall. We are a family of 4 with one on the way. We do so many activities with extended family it was important that we had an 8 passenger vehicle. We tried out several other 8 passenger cars and the head and leg room in the Palisade cannot be compared to any of them! This car looks fancy and expensive on the exterior and interior. It is far from being a gutless wonder like the Dodge Journey with a V6 engine it can definitely get up and go. The car has plenty of storage space with all rows up and even more when the 3rd row goes down. We fit our 6 foot Christmas tree inside the car with 6 people in the vehicle!! We are able to fit 3 slim car seats in the middle row and 2 in the back though the 3rd seat becomes useless at that point. The drive modes are great, snow mode we use for heavy rains in the PNW and you can feel the car grip the road better, sport mode is great for passing slow cars or getting up to speed on the freeway and comfort mode is our standard driving mode. The car feels heavy and safe. It comes standard with the lane assist, which is hard to get use to if you've never had a car correct itself and the backup camera is wonderful. You see so much space behind the car and it alerts you if someone is in the path, which is a really nice feature. The automatic high beams - Oh my goodness- it's Genius!! It might be one of my favorite features. The car has a ton of USB ports, though with iPhone now only using C ports, you have to use the car charger port which is a separate purchase, this we just learned from my mom who still lives in the dark ages of the iPhone. The radio station and mode changes flash under the odometer and the car alerts you when the temperatures drop to freezing. The push gear shifts are fun and unique, though the basic model still requires a key. The hard truths about the car is that it is not 8 Plus Size person vehicle. The seats are still "standard size" width so I have an almost 6'2" 300lb son and a 5'8" 150lb daughter, they can both sit easily in the 3rd row comfortably, but adding a 3rd little body like my 8 year old nephew, makes for a "he's touching me" car ride. Though my giant children and mom were able to cozily all three sit in the middle row, though seat buckling took a bit of time and organization, also a few booty touches happened. The daylights I think are halogen and very bright, while the headlights are a soft white. It didn't bother me until I saw my car driving at night and it looks hilariously ridiculous! The contrast between the two lights is so wildly obvious it just has to be laughed at. This is how the car comes standard. The car we purchased was lightly used at the dealership as a transport car so it had some miles on it already, but this car is not quiet on the freeway/interstate. At 60+ MPH you can hear that you're driving at high speeds and if you're listening to a podcast or talk radio, you'll have to turn up the volume. My windows even rattle, which I'm not certain is common or just my car. Car seat installation isn't the easiest either, I watched a video on YouTube that made it seem very easy, but it's not for me and I'm always uncertain if it's been installed properly as the latch system seems slightly out of place. We have the basic model Palisade and so the seat adjustments are all manual, hand pump style. There is no lumbar support option and I had to buy one for the drivers side of the car. The passenger and back seats are much more comfortable than the driver's seat in my opinion, though my husband has no problem with it. The huge in-dash display is awesome, though it doesn't connect with streaming services, so that kind of sucks. Android Auto is something I am still getting use to after 3 months of ownership, but it works well even with my older Samsung S8. Navigation is nice and big and so easy to see. Overall, I love my car, I think the Palisade is the best 8 passenger on the market and at a price you cannot compete with. Everyone that rides in my car, loves it! They all want to get their own. Of course as you drive it, you find little things that you don't like or wish you could change, but at the end of the day, I very much love my car $36,000 and don't hate making my monthly payments. This is a car you can be proud to drive and feel safe and comfortable in.
