Brand New Car Unsafe to Drive
I owned a 2020 Palisade and loved it. I was in a serious accident and the car was totaled. It was a traumatic experience, but I was pleased with how my vehicle responded to the accident. I knew I wanted another Palisade and bought the 2023 Calligraphy Palisade ($61,000 investment) without considering any other car. Now I'm living in a nightmare! I have owned my car for five weeks. I have driven it for two total weeks and the rest of the time it has been at the dealership’s service center. In the first week of driving my car, two times I experienced the following: the car suddenly started to jolt (one time to the point of my head whipping forward and flying back), decelerated and then was unable to accelerate even when the gas pedal was pushed all the way down. On one of the two occasions, I had to put on the hazard lights and pull to the side of the road to avoid a rearend collision because a car was approaching behind me. There was no warning this would happen and there were no service lights that lit up on the dash. The car was at the dealership’s service center for two weeks. They told me they couldn’t duplicate the problem, that Hyundai had not had other similar complaints, that sometimes things like that happen and they’re just a fluke and that there was nothing else they could do for me. Well, the same situation happened a third time (at 721 miles) while my husband was driving it with my daughter in the car - which was our second week of driving the car. He, too, had to put on the hazard lights and pull to the side of the road to avoid a rear end collision. I own a brand new car that my husband and I do not feel safe in since we don't know if this situation will repeat itself and we could get hit from behind! Driving it is a hazard for those in our car and others on the road. If my car is suddenly jolting and decelerates, I could get hit by a car driving at normal speed behind me. I’ll repeat it again … I own a brand new car that I feel unsafe in. It’s at the dealership again to see if they can find the problem and fix it. I opened a case with Hyundai and a case manager called me to share his name. I am beyond disappointed and upset and expect that Hyundai will make this situation right. They went from having me as Hyundai Palisade ambassador to a client who is questioning the safety of my brand new Palisade. Hyundai, I hope you make this situation right by ensuring that by some way I have a brand new Palisade that operates correctly and that I can drive feeling confident in my safety. I will rate some of the characteristics of the car high, but when it doesn't perform and isn't reliable, does the interior or exterior does matter? No.
