Too many issues for a brand new vehicle

I don’t think it’s reasonable to pay $50,000 for a vehicle that in two years has had several major problems. The gentleman in the service department said they have quite a few new vehicles that have issues. I just wish the sales department would’ve been Transparent about that information at the time of the sale. Maybe I would’ve chose differently.

Santa Fe Plug-in

Purchased new and began driving it on the 28th of October 2023. Today, the 7th of February 2024, the car has 8,738 miles on it. Previously owned a 2020 Santa Fe non-hybrid. I feel the car is somewhat underpowered although adequate for routine driving. The plug-in is supposed to have a 30 mile EV range. I believe this is inadequate for the area in which I live, which is within 30 miles of downtown Denver. Realistically, to fully benefit from the EV propulsion the EV range should, at minimum, be 60 miles. I have just driven 25 miles (local, routine drive) on a full charge and the car indicates an average mileage rating of 109 mpg with 6 miles of EV range remaining. Since refueling (104.5 miles) the average is 53.2 mpg and the all time average is 31.0 mpg. The 8,738 miles include one drive of 4,200 miles and two drives of over 900 miles each on hybrid only with no plug-in charging. The hybrid only mpg averaged between 25 & 30 mpg which I believe is less than should be expected. Long drives can become a bit uncomfortable as the seating support is less than optimal and marginally adequate for a man of 236 pounds. Ergonomics are mostly excellent. I am not enamored with the button gear selection scheme. It is not easlily, safely, intuitively, and/or quickly activated. I greatly appreciate the on-dash screen display of the lane along the side of the vehicle when the turn signal is activated. A dash cam option to utilize the four cameras for full time recording would be a welcomed addition. I have some objections to Hyundai's chosen programming for specific safety features (adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, forward collision avoidance, etc.). Overall the car is of high caliber of construction, stylish, and comfortable. I believe it to be, in the whole, above average in value for the cost.

Fuel odor comes inside the cabin

Manufacturing defects with my Santa Fe phev and Hyundai is not fixing it. There's a bad fuel burning odor that comes inside the cabin when car is running. It suffocating people inside the car. The heated air keep flowing inside the car even after turning off the fan/heating. These are major concerns and worst of all Hyundai is not fixing it.

Like the car features. Disappointed in gas mileage and having to purchase all wheel drive and panoramic sunroof.

Too long to charge battery, our Chrysler Pacifica PHEV only takes about 2 hours and we get about the same electric mileage. Overall mileage is terrible, I did better with my gas 2019 Santa Fe. I don't need the all wheel drive and Panoramic Sunroof in Florida, the extra weight isn't worth the diminished fuel mileage. I would rather have a larger fuel tank so I can at least drive 300 miles without having to fill up. My Pacifica can provide heat without have to run the engine. The EV/PHEV button is useless. I find myself stopping and restarting the car at stoplights to shut off the engine and try to use battery. Does the Hybrid model get better mileage than the PHEV? Like I said earlier the extra weight and decrease fuel mileage from the all wheel drive and Panoramic Sunroof is a real downer, why can't I order a vehicle without these items, but with the other features that my vehicle has. I was one of the original Sonata Hybrid owners and we got about 35 MPG. I had hoped that the technology progressed since then and that the Santa Fe would have better highway fuel economy. Mixing the PHEV and gas mileage is very misleading. My Pacifica breaks out the mileage for each category. Please continue to have a space for a full size spare. We travel a lot and always carry a full size spare in EVERY vehicle we own, (I realize we might be the minority, but I have changed many tires on interstate highways during our road trips.

Went well

Love it so far .. Time will tell, Do a summary in 6 months then 1 year. This will give you a better idea of any problems, likes and dislikes. It does not make sense to do a summary in the first month. Except dealer interaction questions.

Generally great -- but problems with tires and car won't stay in EV mode even when battery is full

This car is terrific in many ways -- good handling, nice styling, and I love the sunroof. I have three main problems, though: (1) I've had two flat tires requiring replacement (not just repair) in the first 3 months of owning it; never had this problem with any other car; (2) the car shifts out of EV mode into gas-powered mode even when the battery is fully charged, and there's no way to "instruct" it to revert back to EV; (3) the car plays an automated noise when going in reverse, which makes sense since it can otherwise be silent. But the noise is so loud and aggravating that my neighbors have asked me to park on the street so that I don't go in reverse in the morning, which otherwise wakes them up like an alarm clock.

Still Learning but Satisfied Thus Far

I'm still new to my 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV Limited. Thus far, I'm very satisfied overall. I've had it for a little over a month, and I STILL have a quarter tank of gas with over 1000 miles driven. That's impressive. I do wish that it came equipped with wireless Android Auto, and I didn't have to buy a wireless dongle. I hope Hyundai listens on this one and comes up with a future workaround for this. So far, it's very comfortable and quiet, and the ride quality is well done. The power thigh extension for a tall driver like me really makes a difference. I wish the telescoping steering wheel came out a bit further since a tall driver like myself would benefit, but it's a minor issue. The infotainment is pretty well done, and like all infotainment systems, it takes a bit of learning to become familiar and proficient. Let's see what the first ten thousand miles bring, and then I'll really know how satisfied I am with my purchase.

Santa Fe PHEV

I love my new Santa Fe Plug in Hybrid. On the first tank of gas we drove over 900 miles!!!! Replaced a 2017 Santa Fe Ultimate. Liked it but started to have some issues that I was not interested in fixing.

Comfortable ride, excellent fuel economy, and great warranty

Plug in hybrid enables outstanding fuel economy. Averaging 75 mpg to date. Comfortable ride, excellent sound system, good storage space, and many "creature comforts" like heated and cooled seats and adjustable seats with lumbar support. Chock full of safety features - particularly like camera engaging and displaying on the dash when signaling to make a turn.

Hybrid vs. plug in

I love the suv but the plug-in is a little inconvenient, regular chargers don’t fit. Very inconvenient to find plug in areas during traveling. Mostly just purchase gasoline but very good with long distance travels

2023 Santa Fe PHEV

2023 Santa Fe PHEV we traveled to Islip NY to buy the vehicle after researching it and others online. This dealer gave us the same price that the "Build your Hyundai" website did. Several other dealers we contacted told us we would need to purchase several thousand dollars of add-ons to be able to buy the vehicle because we were from out of state.

Good fuel economy & it is smaller

It is a great car. You really do get all of the bells & whistles for a smaller price tag. The eco mode is good for daily driving. The smart is good for longer trips abd sport is when you have a need for speed.

Quality vehicle

This Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV is well made and comfortable to drive. I used it primarily for driving around town and plug in overnight every 2-3 days. I have not filled up the gas tank since purchasing the car and have more than 1000 miles on it. Of course I will need to with longer drives. So far, it has met my expectations. Very quiet in EV mode and good sound system.
