Poor quality
First and foremost, the quality and degradation of my 2013 model Hyundai Sonata GLS are of concern ---- as this car has had multiple recalls and is demonstrating wear and tear that seems premature for its lifetime. The following parts started to fail in as early as 2014. To name a few of the issues: the brakes and rotors had to be replaced, the seat belt buckles have had jams caused by cold weather, the button to open the trunk has permanently jammed (is unable to be opened using the button located within the car), the remote to unlock the car stopped functioning (I replaced it 3-4 times within 2014 alone until I finally resorted to manually unlocking/locking my car doors), the antenna most recently fell off, the steering has problems, the door locks fell of under warranty, the drive belt is worn out and has a noise, the wheel has required alignment multiple times and cannot be completely aligned, the drive belt tensioner is worn out, the top engine/throttle has been diagnosed with needing a cleaning, both of the turn signals went out and had to be replaced, the brake lights went out and had to be replaced, and the headlights have gone out twice. These issues are separately documented issues I have kept record of aside from the multiple safety recalls that have been issued (six to-date) including: seat belt: front anchor, seat belt: pretension, engine and engine cooling, airbags, power train: automatic transmission, and engine bearing wear (“Excess metal debris may have been generated from factory machining operations. The debris can be forced into the connecting rod oiling passages, restricting oil flow to the connecting rod bearings and increasing the potential of premature bearing wear. The condition would cause the vehicle to stall while in motion, increasing the risk of a crash.”)
