N-Line is great, with some notable flaws
The Sonata N-Line is a great, sporty and luxurious car. It’s got a beautiful interior, sharp exterior, long warranty, lots of power, and some great advanced tech, both in safety and convenience. It’s one of those cars that’s sharp enough to make you look twice. But, with all that power comes the issue of road grip and power usability. With about 300hp, it’s one of the most powerful FWD cars available today, and in my opinion with the package it’s currently sold in, it can’t use most of that power. With the lack of an LSD or eLSD, it’ll screech the tires around nearly every corner you put the gas down for, or even in a straight line it’ll wheel hop into oblivion. It’s one of a few areas where this beautiful well-designed package falls significantly short from what Hyundai designed it to do. If this car had AWD, I would buy this car in a heartbeat instead of leasing (or even buy out the lease). But, with such bad grip and wheel hop issues, it’s the type of car that I will lease and return, in the search for another car with better grip. It’s a lot of fun, don’t get me wrong, but it’s almost comical to ‘burn out’ as often as you do in this car. The rough suspension doesn’t help either, when you hit larger pot holes it feels like you snapped the car in half. It’s a car I enjoy greatly but one I’d say to weigh the pros and cons on before buying it.
