I've had lots of vehicles; this is my favorite so far.
The title pretty much says it all. Though not perfect (what vehicle is?) I've enjoyed my 2017 Tucson more than any vehicle I've ever owned. I started with a '47 Ford in 1955 when I was 16 years old. Aside from the great back seat, the memories, and the ease of working on the car, the Hyundai wins. I have run the gamut of different types of vehicles since and, God willing, am not finished but it's going to take a lot more money, I fear, to surpass my satisfaction with this Tucson. It was engineered by the team from Hyundai Motor’s Design Centre Europe in Rüsselsheim, Germany. What a great job they did. Had you told me even 10 years ago that I'd be driving a German engineered car made in South Korea and purchased in Gainesville, Florida I would have told you what I thought you were full of. The little engine in my Tucson, 1.591 Liters, is boosted by a twin scroll turbo that provides a kick in the seat of the pants when you need it. I absolutely marvel at the engines power and quick response. Merging into high traffic situations and getting clear of trouble are both facilitated by the rapid turbo response. Though I'm not a "drinker," each time I see a standard 1.75 Liter bottle of booze I tell myself, "That Tucson engine displaces less than that! I also marvel at the engine's efficiency as I continuously average over 30 mpg per tank fill. I am impressed by the engineering of the 7 speed dual clutch transmission. The only concern I have about it is that it's a dry design. The transmission is probably the one feature that some people must adjust to but I loved the way it works from the get-go. And it's great having the option of sequentially going through the gears - up or down. As a retired geoscientist I still find myself in mountainous terrain. The transmission performs great on steep upslopes and downslopes and the steering response is more than adequate. I purchased the "Limited" that has plenty of bells and whistles and I pretty much use them all. I especially appreciate the safety features. Also, I am one who feels that any phone conversation is a distraction while driving but I do feel better about being able to keep both hands on the wheel if a call comes in. I could go on and on about what I like about the Tucson. Of course there are a few things I think could be improved but they are so trivial it's not worth mentioning.
