Awesome car, with quirks
I fell in love with this car after seeing it. Nothing looks like the veloster. The ride was awesome, sound system is top notch. Loved it and bought it immediately. Then... then it started having issues. #1 - Bluetooth would not sync this was only after a few months.Come to find out, they had to replace the entire entertainment system the whole front of the car inside where the climate control, radio etc is. That happened, and in doing that they gouged the inside of my car where it looks like they pried that area apart with a screwdriver. Ok, issue #2 - my sunroof exploded as I was going down the freeway raining glass all on me and all over my car. Apparently the year before mine was recalled for this VERY issue, but the 2014 was not, and oh yeah, they used the same materials as the 2013. So, no recall for whatever reason but its happening. Had to have that entire assembly replaced, and the car had to be repainted due to the scratches from the glass. That was a nighmare to deal with and almost told Hyundai to just get me a new car. (this was a never ending 2 months without access to my car). Now I have issue #3 - the fabric cover over my sunroof is stained, its leaking, dealership says they cannot find any proof of a leak so, its not. Said they would replace the cloth cover, but have never returned my calls to do so after they said they needed to order the part.
Issue #4 - A/C - setting 1,3 & 4 work great, go to turn it to 2 and it shuts off. Told the dealership about it the other day while getting my oil changed, apparently he forgot to note that on the service order....
Issue #5 - the little map light above the driver-side hidden by the sun visor rattles suddenly. Uncontrollable rattle that wont stop. Really annoying for anyone calling you and your using the Bluetooth. Its right by the mic. Again, told the dealership about it, but nothing happened.
So, other than all of that, its actually an awesome car, just thank god for the 100,000 mi 10 year full warranty, you'll need it. Fun to drive, takes some getting use to as it does have some massive blind spots.
Oh, and get a spare tire, it doesn't come with one, and that really sucks when you get a blow out in the middle of no where and all you have is a useless air pump flat tire kit that you cant use on side wall blowouts. So, its worth the extra upfront. Also, be sure to get that full warranty.
