Turbo Veloster
I have a 2013 Turbo Veloster, with the ultimate package. Purchased new, it now has about 37,000 miles logged on the odometer. The gas mileage averages about 28 mpg combined city/hwy (regular gas). Last year on a trip to Arizona, the Veloster got 42 mpg, going an average 75 mph! The turbo engine has a lot of power when needed. Its not the fastest car on the road of course, but, its certainly no slow poke either. Its fun to drive. The build quality is excellent, no problems or issues, it still looks like new. The body style is sporty if not unique. The third passenger door is a big plus. It doesn't show up in the body lines, thus its somewhat of a hidden door, which is cool, but it makes entering and exiting the rear seats much easier. Being a hatchback, it has tons of room for your stuff when the rear seats are folded down.
All in all, its been a great, fun and dependable car to drive. Now, for the bad stuff. Not much to say here, but, here goes. The first set of tires wore out rather quickly. not from my driving habits, but just didn't last very long. Kumo(?) the tire company replaced them for free! The most serious issue with the car is a very significant blind spot at the right rear of the car. This is due to the cars' body contours. I wouldn't want Hyundai to change the shape, even 1milimeter, but, a better rear view mirror set up would be most welcome. My navigation unit was faulty and replaced at no charge. The replacement still has some issues and it will be again be replaced at no charge. The dealership needs the car for a full day to evaluate and replace the unit. They've promised a loaner, so not much of a hassle. Finally, my only other complaint would be that the next generation veloster comes with a more sophisticated rear suspension. Then, this car would be a total blast to drive! I like my Veloster and would highly recomend it. After three years of ownership, its still exciting to slide in the cabin, and take off!
