"Love..." its what makes a Subaru
What more can I add? Comfortable to drive, and I have a half dozen 1500 mile round trips in the less than a year I have owned this car. Performs well, especially with the optional (I think) S and S# drives. I think those are part of the turbo package. Great on freeway for merging, passing big trucks on narrow mountain curves in the rain. GPS system takes some learning, but what new software system does not? It has been effective and reliable. Fit, finish, reliability have each been great. Drawbacks, there should be some drawbacks...oh, ok, I have one: the car is a little taller than my previous Foresters so I have to get out a ladder to wash and wax the roof. I have never been much for luxery, more a Jeep personality than Cadillac, so with that caveat I may not be the best to evaluate this, but I cannot imagine what else I might want or need. I have never had an auto transmission before this, preferring the control of a manual. I love this. Shifts quietly, smoothly, efficiently...that is, if it actually shifts! I cannot say I have been aware of it but once when I went into passing mode around a truck as suggested above and the transmission changed to a lower gear for greater acceleration. Feeling was only momentary, more a surprise for me that I realized I had not noticed it before. Gas mileage has been much better than I expected. Generally I am around 28/29 overall, usually with a fair amount of freeway driving. On the mileage display that shows short term mileage I usually see maybe 26-28 on the uphill portions of mountain driving, 35-38 on the downhill, overall 30-31 for very long 2-3 tankfull trips. Combined with performance, acceptable comfort with parking lot size, cannot imagine much better. Oh, I found another drawback: I am a conservative voter and Subaru seems to me to have a more Liberal image, likely due to emphasis on use for getting back to nature and the company contributions to more liberal causes. I can live with that.
