Big Mistake

The Golf is decent on gas mileage but that’s where the pluses end. Parts for even something as simple as an oil change are totally unique to Volkswagon leaving you at their mercy for pricing. An oil change at the dealer runs about $200 No that wasn’t a type-o $200!! I was lucky to find a mechanic that only charges me $135 even with the authentic VW parts. A side mirror that normally could get replaced for a couple hundred dollars would cost me a good $900 according to the mechanic. He rigged it to make it totally useable and needless to say I can’t wait to trade this little money out in!

The 2017 VW Golf is not a memorable car.

The 2017 Golf is, obviously, a mass-produced, low-cost car. It may be adequate for most people, but its reliability is poor. With only 30,000 miles on it, its aux water pump and the attendant water hoses needs replacement, and one of the titre pressure sensors became defective, shows "low tire pressure" but all tires are up to the recommended 32 PSI.

VW Never Again

The Golf was good on gas when I first purchased it but it didn’t make up for the high cost of just regular maintenance. Even an oil change cost over $100 because special parts are required. Just waiting to trade it in later this year.

Reliable vehicle

This car has been great! The only thing that was replaced in 90K miles was a leaky water pump and a new battery. Everything else was routine maintenance.

Great vehicle

All in all my VW Golf is the best car that I’ve ever owned. Handles great, turns like water thru a hose. I would purchase a Golf hybrid diesel/elect.

After almost a year of ownership - I continue to appreciate the quality and refinement of this car.

My Golf, a 2017 SEL (early model) before the model changeover - is simply the greatest car I have ever owned. Great acceleration, Great Mileage, fun to drive. And it spoils you - I have every option available - or the SEL trim, Drivers and Technology Packages. No, it doesn't have leather, or a manual transmission option (The 6-speed non-DSG automatic is standard, with sport mode and paddle shifters), or a full panoramic sunroof (ala Audi A3), but it does everything so insanely well, that I overlook these minor things. I could go to a GTI or R and get those things, but I would not get the Drivers Assistance Package (adaptive cruise control, collision avoidance, front and rear sensors, cross traffic alert, self-park mode, blind spot monitor, etc.). Also, when I was looking, the only manual Golfs in the entire Seattle Metro Area were base models. My last six cars have been BMW's (and yes, I always used the turn signals) - so my bar was set high, to begin with. This car is impressive - fun to drive, tossable, gets great gas mileage, the Fender stereo is phenomenal, and it swallows cargo like you would not believe. In December I took a road trip to Northern California from Seattle - I left the interstate and took US 101, CA 1 down and back. What a remarkable car - fun to drive and nearly 36 mpg at 75 mph...firm but not unsettling suspension, easy to use controls, and comfortable. I was ready to sign on the line for a Ford Focus Titanium when I test drove this car - the Focus became a distant memory. There is a reason this car has been around for four decades, and why it is consistently in the ranks of the best cars to own.

Performance is lovely!

With just a Unitronic stage 1+ tune here at EverythingEuro my car feels like a whole new level, it's so fun, it's pretty quick and my gas milage is noticeably better, it was definitely worth every penny.

We bought our Golf TSI in December, replacing a Golf TDI. It is a wonderful car, great ride , wonderful gas mileage and very comfortable!! We have two German shepherds that fit just fine in the back with the seats down. I love the car , can't say it enough!!
