The Phaeton is currently (2016) not available. Some reports indicate it will be imported again in 2017. In the meantime the car is perhaps the best bargain on the used car market. My 2004 with 110,000 miles can be had for less than$10,000. The Phaeton is in truth a VW badged Bentley VW owns Bentley), originally sold in 2001 in the US for about $70,000 as opposed to its British badged Bentley version at twice the price. Under the bonnet and interiors are the same with minor trim variations. The long-wheelbase provides for extraordinary rear comfort and legroom. The 385hp V-8 will propel the 5500 pound Phaeton to 60mph in about 5 seconds and cruise at 135mph plus if you can find a road and tires that will take it. Audi's A-8 has similar underpinnings to The Phaeton, both include the quatro four wheel drive system. Service and parts are are available at any VW dealer. If the part has to be imported, overnight delivery is free with your Phaeton. Gas mileage is comparable to most higher end SUVs.
