Safe, solid Swedish Wagon
Even though it has been expensive to upkeep ($250/mo average for 25 months of ownership), it is still our favorite car! Volvo builds safe, solid cars. When you shut the door it is like closing a bank vault. The car drives excellent in the snow (Vermont), even with all-season tires. The seats are very comfortable, front seats have a pocket in the front, great for keeping wallet, phone, or other small items handle and concealed. Locking glovebox is deep and all doors have water bottle holders and seat back pockets. Headlights are good and very roomy car, seats fold flat in 3 pieces in the rear. Front pass. seat folds flat for hauling long items (think trips to home depot). Various trim pieces (chrome on the rear side window) and plastic cladding on the door have been re-secured. We had an issue with the windshield wiper auto feature after an accident. I chocked this up to the window repair company not resetting the feature. We has spent quite a bit in the last 25 months of ownership: maintenance and upkeep. $250/month average compared to $77.50 for our Honda Accord. We do like the Volvo more because it's comfy and feels safer. A premium to pay, but worth it in our opinion.
One problem that we experienced was having to have the radiator anti-tamper device replaced. The warning signs were a charging system failure and many !! lights. Since it has been fixed (diagnosed at Almartin Volvo, fixed at our local mechanic) there have been no issues. The front cupholder cover pieces have broke so i keep it retracted and works fine. Part of the moonroof gasket broke off. No water leaks in, but i ducktape it after fall and take off in the spring.
