Anxious about my Santa Fe recall but taking comfort in having great service from McGrath Hyundai

I recently received a recall notice from Hyundai for my 2008 Santa Fe. After doing the maintenance for the recall Ed Villegas called me to say my car needed to be repaired by Hyundai as it was not safe to drive. Ed thoroughly explained the recall process, the work that is done and why the car could not be driven until Hyundai repairs the frame. He provided me with a loaner car until my Santa Fe gets repaired. I'm so glad to be able to count on Ed, Christine and the crew at McGrath Hyundai service department. They always take good care of their customers. Our family has bought several cars from them and have never had any problems. They are always friendly, courteous and very helpful.

Mechanic service is not like it used to be.

I dropped my car off at 7:15 AM for an oil change, recalls, and check the breaks because last time I was there you told me they would probably need to be changed the next visit. I hear nothing all day from the dealer. At 4:35 PM I receive a call from the dealer indicating that I need front breaks. Also please be aware that my pickup time on the work order was to be 4:30 PM. I was not very happy with the call and asked why, at 4:35 PM you are now calling me to tell me I need front breaks when my car was dropped off for service over 8 hours ago. They indicate the service tech just brought the car back with the notes. The service tech is in the background saying he can do the breaks now. I let him do the breaks. My question is - Why are you waiting over 8 hours to call me to tell me my car needs additional work? I dropped off my car for the specific reason of not wanting to sit there while work was being performed. I have been a very loyal customer to this dealer location and felt like I was not treated very kindly and that no one really cared that I was being called at 4:35 PM to tell me additional work was needed to be done. Please note I do NOT feel like this was the fault of the service person that checked me in. I think there should be some type of re-organization with the mechanics. It is not fair to wait until the end of the day to work on a car that is brought in first thing in the morning. As of right now I am reviewing my options to find another Hyundai dealer close to my residence. This is also upsetting because we are now in the process of starting to review options of purchasing a new vehicle for my husband and I was trying to talk him into a Hyundai from your dealership.

They seem friendly enough to be considered family when seeking service.

Since 2012, the Mcgrath Hyundai dealership and maintenance department have upheld the highest standard of service and service completion for all services required to keep my vehicle up to the performance standards that I purchase the vehicle for. I told the sales personnel that I didn't need to test drive the new cars, because I trusted the dealer and the car. They made me test drive anyway, and it only validated my original opinion. A good car, a good dealership, and a good service department.
