Car got hit by one of the staff at the dealership
Dear Hyundai Dealership Alexandria VA

I am writing to formally express my frustration and disappointment regarding an incident that occurred at your dealership on February 23, 2025. When I dropped off my vehicle for service, one of your employees caused damage to my car. Instead of receiving immediate assistance and accountability from your team, I was met with hesitation and reluctance to address the situation appropriately.

As an active duty service member with mandatory orders, this situation has placed an unnecessary burden on me. I now have to find a way to resolve this issue while also managing my transition, which should not have been my responsibility in the first place. The negligence of your staff has put me in an incredibly difficult position, and I expect your dealership to take full responsibility for the damages and provide a prompt resolution.

I hope to see a level of professionalism and accountability that reflects the standards your dealership should uphold.

Horrible service
Absolutely terrible service department. I explained more extensively in a google review. I wish I did not purchase a Hyundai and am shocked that, with all of the long string of horrible reviews about the service department, the Hyundai organization hasn’t done something about this place

Service department that doesn’t know the meaning of service
I brought my car in for maintenance 2 weeks ago. I waited for the car. When I got in the car it was running. I stopped to get gas on my way home and turned off the car. I tried to turn the car on after pumping the gas only to see No Key Detected on my dashboard. They had not returned my key. I sat in the heat until someone came and returned my key.
On the way home and for the next week, I felt like the car was driving roughly. Last Friday the check engine light came on. I could not reach Alexandria Hyundai’s service department. They do not answer the phone, they do not return calls and they do not respond to texts. This has been an ongoing problem for years. And yes, I have brought it up to management. Nothing changes.
I gave up and brought the car to the Liberty Station by my house to see why the light was on. There was a problem with the fuel rail pressure sensor. They told me not to drive the car other than to take it to the dealer on Monday.
Before I left the station, I called Alexandria Hyundai’s service department once again. And again, no luck getting through. So, I figured who at Hyundai would answer the phone? The sales department. Sad that I had to do this, but I called them and told them what was going on. They had someone from service call me back.
I explained what was going on and that I only had one car and currently could not drive it so I needed to get it repaired. The person I talk to said no problem she could get me in in two weeks. Really??? Are we a little tone deaf here? So I told her that I was the person who got stranded at a gas station because they did not return my keys to me. She transferred me to Diamond, the service advisor who helped me the day on the day I got stranded. He assured me that if I brought my car in on Monday, he would have it back to me by Monday afternoon.
I brought my car in on Monday morning and Diamond was not there so I got to deal with Troy Dodd. He was incredibly unresponsive when I dealt with him in the past, but I really didn’t have a choice. He told me he would try to get the car back to me by the end of the day but would call me and let me know. Of course, I never heard from him although I called four times, texted him and left phone two phone messages. Here it is 7:39 PM so I’m assuming my car is not ready. What’s worse, the problem was caused by something they did when I brought my car in two weeks ago. I have incurred over $100 in expenses for a rental car. I have no idea how to get in touch with these people tomorrow to see if my car is actually ready.
This was my second Hyundai that I bought from Alexandria Hyundai and it will definitely be my last. I would not go to their service department except for the fact that the other Hyundai dealer I could use is very far from my house. Although I like both of my Hyundais, I’m not buying another one. Until my car is out of warranty, it does not make sense for me to go anywhere, but to the dealers to get it fixed. This would be an ongoing problem if I bought another Hyundai.
I would be remiss if I did not mention the employees who are very service oriented. Joe and the two ladies who work at the admin desk. They went out of their way to help me with the things they could.

Stay clear!
Stay clear of these fraudsters! I purchased a new Hyundai hybrid which started having battery issues just a few months in. Made an appointment, soonest available was over a month out. I dropped the vehicle off on a Monday for them to take a look at and was "promised" 5pm pickup that same day. No communication, Tuesday comes along, give them a call and told the vehicle has not been looked at yet, call back each day over the course of the week and am unapologetically told the same thing "we haven't looked at your vehicle, no loaners available, too bad, so sad...". It's now been 5 days and my new vehicle has sat in their lot untouched, there is no communication and the service advisors stop answering your calls if they recognize your number. I was also told two days ago that the service manager would reach out... nothing. At this point they may be doing this purposefully with the hopes I'll come take the vehicle un-serviced. Will update with resolution one way or another.

19 Days w No Car and No Repair
It will never cease to amaze me how fast a repair is completed when I’m paying for it vs when it is covered by warranty. Alexandria Hyundai Genesis has had my g90 for 19 days and still don’t have the repair completed - they don’t even have the parts they need yet. Please avoid Hyundais and Genesises in general but especially this dealership.

Alexandria Hyundai earned five stars on each of my two leases.
The process of purchasing my 2022 Hyundia Tucson, the care I was looking for right from the start, couldn't have gone smoother. Jae, Joon and P.J. are low pressure professionals that let the product sell itself. This was my second time coming in to lease a new vehicle. I received great trade in value form my previously leased car and left feeling quite comfortable about the decision I made to lease the new one.

This was the easiest process I ever had buying a car. Thanks to the awesome car salesman Charles Nguyen. I love my new car and enjoyed shopping with you guys. I definitely will be returning in the future when shopping. Before finding what I wanted with you guys it took me 3 other hyundai dealerships. Found the perfect car for me and the family. You guys customer service made it so much easier for me to shop. So thankful

NEXT TIME I WILL TAKE MY CHANCES TAKING THE VEHICLE TO A GAS STATION FOR REPAIRS
I WILL TRY TO BE AS REFINED AS I CAN, TO WRITE, WHAT NEEDS TO BE SAID. IT HAS BEEN 21 DAYS SINCE I DROPPED OFF MY 2016 TUCSON, ON A SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT.TO REPAIR A DRIVER SIDE WINDOW THAT WAS NOT WORKING, AND HAD NOT PASSED INSPECTION, ALSO THERE WERE ISSUES WITH THE SAME DOOR LOCK, NOT LOCKING. I DID NOT HEAR A WORD FROM ANYBODY UNTIL I CALLED 8-10 DAYS LATER, WICH WOULD HAVE BEEN SUFFICIENT FOR ANY LICENSED DEALERSHIP TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEMS WOULD HAVE BEEN.
IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO GET A HOLD OF TROY DODD, WHO WAS THE ASSIGNED TO OVERSEE THE REPAIRS, I CALL, THE OPERATOR WOULD ALWAYS SAY, THAT HE WAS WITH ANOTHER CUSTOMER, AND WOULD SEND ME TO HIS NON-EXISTENT EXTENSION, HE WOULD NEVER ANSWER, WHEN FINALLY, TALKED TALK TO HIM; HE SAID THAT, "AND I AM REPEATING THIS AGAIN" THAT THREE DIAGNOSTICS WERE NEEDED AT $159 EACH; YOU WOULD THINK, THAT A DIAGNOSTIC WOULD DO JUST THAT, DIAGNOSE, TELL YOU WHAT WHAT THE PROBLEMS ARE, OTHERWISE, WHY CALL THEM THAT. BUT IT SEEMS TO ME, THAT IT HAS BEEN A GUESSING GAME, FIRST TROY TELLS ME THAT.
1- AN ACTUATOR IS NEEDED, "MORE DAYS PASS"
2-NOW HE SAYS THE MOTOR IS NEEDED, "MORE DAYS PASS"
3- NOW I AM BEING TOLD THE MASTER GRAND SWITCH IS ALSO NEEDED, THAT WAS THIS PAST FRIDAY 3.
4-NOW IT WOULD SEEM TO ANY REASONABLE PERSON, THAT A PART GUESSING IS BEEING DONE,
5-HAD I NOT MADE THAT FIRST PHONE CALL, MY WOULD STILL HAVE BEEN SITTING IN THE PARKING LOT.
6-I ALMOST FORGOT TO MENTION THAT TROY SAID THAT AN APPLICATION WAS DOWNLOADED, THAT WAS NEEDED, I WONDER AN APPLICATION FOR WHAT EXACTLY.
7-I ALSO HAD WRITTEN IN ENVELOPE WHERE YOU LEAVE THE KEYS OVERNIGHT--TO SAVE THE OLD PARTS, TROY TOLD ME HE WAS NOT SURE IF THEY HAVE BEEN TROWN AWAY, DO THE MECHANICS OR PERSON WHO GET THOSE ENVELOPES READ THEM AT ALL, BECAUSE THEY CLEARLY STATE ON THE VERY TOP---EXPLAIN WHAT IS NEEDED TO BE DONE TO YOUR VEHICLE.
8- FINALLY I SINCERELY HOPE THAT I AM NOT CHARGE FOR ANY DIAGNOSTICS, SINCE IT SEEMS WERE NOT ACCURATE TO ANALYSE THE PROBLEMS, AND FOR EXCESS LABOR.

I SURELY HOPE, THEY IMPROVE ON THIS TYPE OF ISSUES,,,,21 DAYS AND I STILL DO NOT HAVE MY VEHICLE...WOW!!!WHAT IS THIS CALLED INEPTITUDE? INCOMPETENCE.

They can’t even change oil
Went in for a simple oil change. Waited two hours, drove home, then the oil leaked everywhere and the check engine light turned on. Now the car won’t start. I called them and their only solution was that they’d call me back after the weekend because the person that assisted me had left for the day. I have no car for the weekend and was offered to alternative in light of their poor quality work. DO NOT GO TO THIS DEALERSHIP EVER.

I have had bad experience with another Hyundai dealer (in Waldorf, md) and was reluctant to try again. Alexandria Hyundai was terrific. Did a great job and actively demonstrated concern for the customer. I recommend them highly and will never go anywhere else.

Replaced Driver / Passenger Axle , Steering coupler, replaced front sway bar links, Rack & Pinion assembly.
On Feb. 18th 2022 I took my car in for service to my go to guy Ron Torres as I noticed my car was making noise as I accelerated to a speed of 60 mph. Ron relayed to me that the Axle needed to be replaced and the sway bar links and that the steering coupler gave a failed sign during the diagnostic. Ron and the team at Hyundai Alexandria took care of my vehicle needs. Ron also alerted me to some other issues that needed to be taken care of and he put an order in for the parts and I came back on March 14th 2022 to get the other issues taken care of in the review title above. Ron took care of things and kept me updated on the status it goes with out saying that Ron really takes care of me when it comes to my car, I'm sure he provides this top notch service to all that deal with him on their car needs. To management at Hyundai Alexandria please know that you have someone that really takes pride in his work and provides the utmost top notch customer service out there ! I would like to think that if any Award is given for your employees at Hyundai Alexandria please add Ron Torres to that list because he goes above and beyond in his job ! And we / me the customer appreciate it.
