Up front and honest!
I took my 99 Camry (256k miles) in for look at the fuel filler neck, which was leaking gas due to rust just at fill up. Their diagnosis included additional repairs that would be likely once the repair began due to rust. While he made clear that the decision was mine, he mentioned the cost of repairs might not be worth it due to the value of the car. While it was bad news, I felt appreciative and looked after. Thanks auto clinic!
