If I could give them less than one star, I would.
This is long so, my apologies. I have been excessively patient and kind with them, and it has gotten me nowhere.
On April 8th 2024, I signed the paperwork to purchase a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander (7 seats) from this car lot. We were told it was recently purchased from an auction, but that all it needed was a new radiator. We talked our sales rep, Ryan, into including two new front tires as well because the tires on the car looked very worn. They agreed to the tires along with the radiator. They put us in a loaner until our car was fixed and was told it would be no more than a week. We traded in our 2012 Sonic Chevy for $4k to go towards the Outlander since it would fit us and our kids.
A week later, I called and was told they needed a few more days and that they would call when it was done. Another week went by with no contact, so I called again. I was told they still weren't finished, but not given any other information. Again, they said they would call. This continued until May 15th. A woman in the service department said she was appalled and she would make sure we were cared for. Our car still had not been worked on. We told her we had a long road trip to see family coming up that weekend and that was part of why we purchased that car, it seats 7, and we wouldn't have to take two vehicles for a 7 hour trip. Our loaner only seats 5. She said she would get more information and call back. I never received a call, so I called the next day (May16th) and asked for her since she was getting herself familiar with our case. She said she was putting it in an empty bay for when of the service technicians to work on it and that it would for sure be done the next day by noon, which is when we were leaving for our trip. I called for an update towards the end of the day, and she said she could see that the technician had the old radiator out.
The lady called the next day and stated that our car was not done, would not be done, and that they did not have a service director as of that morning, and that they were prepping a loaner vehicle that had 3rd row seating. She did not have an update on our car on why it wasn't done.
May 17th 2024 is when they put us in the new loaner with 3rd row seating and when we were leaving for our trip. We called the following Wednesday (May 22nd) to get an update. There was not one. We called several times in that timeframe with no update.
Finally, on May 29th, we were told our car needs a new engine and they needed to put us in yet another different loaner car. Yesterday (May 30), another employee from here called and said the loaner car we were in was sold and that Joe Cooper bought out Automax. We met with one of the Employees in Pauls Valley so he wouldn't have to drive all the way to us, and swapped out cars. The loaner they put us in is dirt, has cigarette ashes, and has food crammed in the seats and in the floor board. It's also popping up a message that it needs an oil change.
After pouring over everything, I called today to ask the General Manager to allow a flat cancelation. I called the first time at 9am and have called back repeatedly without getting anywhere. I even called a few Joe Cooper car lots. They said that Joe Cooper bought the new car inventory, but not the used car inventory. We cannot get ahold of anyone with Automax. It has been nearly two months since I have bought the Outlander, and I have not even driven it off the lot. It stayed there from the date of purchase for them to fix. My bank has said I am basically screwed unless they decide to suddenly take pity. I cannot afford to be without a car, but I also can't afford to continue to do business with this company either. I have tried to be patient and kind. I don't like leaving bad reviews on places and was really hoping for a different outcome with this situation.
I don't know what else to do. So I am filing a complaint with the BBB and posting my review of this company everywhere I can.
