Misleading Consumers
Our Elantra is beautiful but the dealership is not. We were told every new car had an up charge of $5,000 but then when paying, it was not in the sales price but in the addendum as a “protection plan” to which we asked to cancel after purchase realizing we had been told one thing and then another. See they tell a Covid tragedy story and that a fire in China caused a chip shortage which is why they have low inventory and have to mark up there prices.) This fire is true and for many dealerships the shortage caused by it true. ) However Hyundai make there own chips and They are not associated with the said company in the fire at all and Hyundai in general has faired well in all these Covid related issues but they are telling people otherwise to try and justify there up charges two years later. As consumers we should be told the truth.
When we asked to cancel the policy “the Protection Plan” we were told by two different people that we could. Then another said No after we spoke to the dealership a second time, but that we should appeal it. This is all through global administrators the policy holder. Then when speaking with manager Kevin at the dealership I told him That i put in an appeal with global administrators to which he rudely said, I will just deny it. How can he deny it if they are a third party? Are they? Then two weeks go by and I receive a text to bring the car back along with a list of blame from the salesman. Saying I had buyers remorse. That we didn’t think it through and we were excited to buy our daughter a car for her birthday. Blaming me for being unsatisfied with the way they did business and for the things I found to be deceiving. How dare they text me, Blame me and then tell me to bring the car back. I know why they said I was unhappy. Because I filed official complaints and posted my story on another review. I have the right to be disappointed and dissatisfied and have questions about there practices. How dare they tell me to bring my 16/17year olds car back as if that would make it right. And ask me what would make it right only to laugh at me when I say a refund and question who am I to deserve a refund. I am so unhappy with this entire buying process and the fact that they are texting me to bring it back two weeks later. We have had 0 contact with the dealership itself since January 2nd. The audacity. Shop around people. Ask questions. Research and don’t accept this type of behavior. We the consumer have more rights than you think. Hyundais are great cars and there are Good dealerships out there with morals who value there customers.
Just to add this the Hyundai Elantra is a beautiful well made car with a to. Of safety features and I do recommend purchasing one.

Bad Business
Having worked in the car business for 15 years, the last thing I’d ever do is write another dealership a bad review HOWEVER, I find that Freehold Hyundai has the absolutely worst way of dealing with customers, right down to the owners, specifically, Chris Mackey. My step daughter’s Hyundai lease was up in 2 months. The dealership reached out to US so we began working with a friend who is a sales manager there. We were quoted a deal on a specific vin, using the equity in her trade as down payment, and even given an exact monthly payment. This was all done thru text, between the sales manager, my step daughter and her father (who has been in this business 25 years as well), which makes it binding. My step daughter has waited 5+ weeks, being told daily that they were bringing her the car and paperwork to sign. Now, 1 day before her current lease is up, they are backing out of the binding deal they made with us over 5 weeks ago, saying the pricing in July changed. That’s great and understandable but we made this deal in JUNE, not July! They were the ones telling us they were waiting for the car to hit the ground, they misplaced the keys, and literally every other excuse under the sun, over the past 5 weeks or the deal would’ve been completed mid June. And to make matters worse, the owner Chris, doesn’t even have the guts to get on the phone with us. This deal was presented to US by the manager at Freehold Hyundai and we accepted it. It wasn’t like we gave them the numbers and they reluctantly agreed. These were the numbers THEY came up with and now won’t honor, after being strung along like jerks for 5 weeks. The owner sent one lame email and didn’t have the decency to get on the phone like a man, and deal with the situation. If we had know what scam artists owned and ran the store, we would have taken our business elsewhere as we both have been in the business for years. DON’T GO TO THIS HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP.
