I’ve been a happy and satisfied customer with J&W Automotive for years until today. The reason I will be finding another mechanic and shop is due to several reasons, safety and standing behind a product purchased and installed by the shop.
I had my tires replaced a little over a year ago and had a flat tire due to a valve stem failure, I was advised that it could’ve been a loose wheel cover that caused the damage and they fixed it on short notice with charge(no issues with that, made sense at the time).
Less than 2 weeks after that I have another valve stem failure on a different wheel on the highway with no notice, it exhibited the same cracking and failure as the first one. I went to the shop after throwing on my spare and he provided me with great customer service and replaced all the valve stems per my request. I was uncertain about the car and took a video of another wheel with me pulling and trying to turn the wheel cover and have a picture of the valve stem that has visual cracks.
My concerns are why weren’t the other wheels checked after the failure the first time? When replacing the valve stems why weren’t they checked before pulling? It’s a major safety hazard, I don’t have the confidence in this shop and their mechanics as I used to have. I do appreciate their promptness and customer service but I don’t appreciate the oversight of safety and not standing behind a product they purchased and installed.
