Quick, friendly, efficient!
These guys did work on my driveline. I had a “mechanic” incorrectly install a carrier bearing in my 2002 Dodge Ram 3500 by using the wrong hardware. Ben had my truck towed to his shop and made it a priority to get me back on the road. I make a living with my welding truck and I’m glad I received prompt service and quality work! I highly recommend Uncle Rick’s to anyone needing good work done. He treats his customers exceptionally well. I won’t be taking my truck to anyone other than Ben from now on. Thank you very much, Ben.

5.3 Small Block Never again will I go there
Don't do it, go somewhere else!

Quote to get 5.3 Liter truck motor rebuilt, and delete the DOD Fuel management system. Truck ran great before oil pump went out. Quoted 2500 and 200 for a tune and 2 weeks to rebuild the motor. Pulled it out, brought it in. Bugged them for 7 weeks before I got my motor back.

When I installed, was missing a bunch of hardware like manifold bolts etc so had to buy new. (if you saw the shop you would understand how they got lost) Installed and trailered it down there for the tune (I live 50 miles away, so each trip I mention was trailering or multiple trip for a ride back) Waited around all day for the tune, finally calls me at 4:30 tells me Cats are plugged, O2 sensors all bad, plug wires are bad, and it doesn't like the plugs. Office guy asks if he told me 300 or 400 for the tune.....I told him he told me 200.

They offer to chop out the cats or I could remove them......I questioned putting new ones on, they said it wouldn't run right with the cats on with the DOD delete. Maybe should of told me that prior to saying they could do this job. Was very surprised that they offered to delete the cats since that is a bit illegal, but who knows.

Trailered it all back home and did everything they said, another $400-$500 and brought it back for them to tune again (another trip). Truck ran like shit even after the second tune. This is a simple small block chevy, nothing fancy. Oil pressure is only 20 psi after warmed up and smelled like burnt oil when idling. Drove it like that for a few months and bottom of motor full of oil so I took it in told them has oil leak, its down to 15 psi oil pressure at idle.

So they agree to warranty the pump and change the front seal under warrantee. They tell me to bring it in on a tuesday and they can work on it wednesday. Well tuesday they tell me to bring it in on Wednesday to work on it thursday, I already had a return ride (another trip) on tuesday, so i brought it down. Over two weeks later of nagging them every other day, they say its done

By the was it still didn't run right. Put in idle going down the road and RPM's go up and down from 500 to 2500 rpm, rough idle etc, dies when pulling into parking spot while turning.

I get there they tell me it was my Pham oil filter causing the oil pressure issue and they changed the oil and put on a filter and the pressure is great. They did change the seal. Then Ben hands me a $350 bill, never discussed before $60 for oil service and $290 for a MAF sensor I can get at Rockauto for $25. Said he didn't like how it ran so he replaced the MAF sensor and tuned some more. Again, old motor ran perfect with old cats, old O2 sensors, old wires, old MAF sensor etc. Truck runs some better now, but still doesn't idle right, and still idled at 20 psi oil pressure.

Said fuel mileage would go up with the DOD delete, it has gone down about 2 mpg. Oh and after the magic Wix filter and oil got 1000 miles on it, I am back at 15 psi of oil pressure at idle and 25 psi going down the road.

Don't do it, I now have $4500 into a $2500 rebuild. Could of bought a Jasper rebuilt motor cheaper than this.

They talked about a warrantee on the motor initially, but the receipt basically says $2500 for motor rebuild........nothing at all about a warrantee.

Awesome Service!
I was having issues with my car slow starting. My battery and alternator were new so I knew it wasn't that. I was able to take it in and have it looked at right away. They were able to have the repair done in time for me to take my car on a road trip I had planned. I highly recommend them for any repairs. I will be back.

Worst of the worst
Uncle Rick’s Diesel and Auto Repair is not a place for any kind of auto service work. They quickly took $4500 (upfront) from me in July 2020 for the promise of a mild engine rebuild. Here it is 8 months later and I still have not gotten an engine. The owner is a PRO at handing out excuses and never once has taken blame for the length of time. At one point I took the engine (for 3 weeks) only to find out it had a leak at the water pump to engine mating surface. After the 3 weeks I took the engine back out and gave it back to them. I have no doubt he will block this post but just trying to get the word out to all the consumers that may need to decide where to do business.

poor commucation
I drop my truck off with this company 3 weeks ago on a Monday. I had bad vibes that day because frist they wanted cash and wasn't going to print a receipt out. I insisted that they take a check so I could have a paper trail and that the aleast write out a receipt. I paid the $4100 for part because the owner advise they needed this up front. This was the first time I talked to the owner, other commuaction was with the front desk Man. I was told that it would take about 2 weeks for the job to be done. I drive around everyday since am retired and saw my truck with the hood up next to another vehicle that they were jumping. I called to see where they were at on my truck and the man advise they were waiting on the computer and shouldn't be that much longer. Again days later I saw my truck moved again in a differnt place. This was concerning because there is no pipes on my truck and if they were to start it there would be damage to the motor. I called a second time to see what was going on and the front deck man advise that they did move the truck but used a forklift . I finally had enough and post my first complaint. A day later the owner for the second time contacted me personally adviseing that the computer part that they were waiting on come in that morning and the next Monday the 24th they would get the pipes in and Tuesday the 25th the computer would be done. Weds the 26th I called and was told by the front desk man that the headers were not in and the truck wasn't done. But that made no sense becasue the owner last friday said that all parts were in and truck would be done on tuesday. So now its a wating game and once my truck is done I have to go pay for someone to look at the work they have done because I do not trust them. This auto shop has had my truck for 3 weeks and 3 days, lying each time I contact them that it's going to be done on a certian day. There has been poor commuaction between employee /owner using my age has an excuse to not beform the work on my truck in a timely manner. Scared that the money paid towards the job is being use somewhere else. I would just like honesty and transparency on what is happening with my truck. And for the job to be finished!
