Battery Problems in Two Weeks of Ownership

Battery Problems less than two weeks of ownership and less than 450 miles. Was driving on a major interstate when the car would no longer accelerate and I had to pull to the side. Very dangerous as I was close to being rear-ended.

First EV

Love the car very comfortable to drive and I'm 6'2 210 pounds. I use the car as a daily commuting vehicle and I drive about 45 miles one way to work. Street the installation of the home charger it now only cost me about $1 per day to charge my vehicle to go to and from work. I really had a lot of anxiety about charging my vehicle or not being able to when needed, but when I got the home charger I am at ease now. No regrets, Hyundai makes a great product and I'm sure the Ioniq 5 will be no different.

does everything well

This car is so easy to drive, so smooth and quiet and incredibly powerful. Its actually fun to drive and can rail corners like a more sporty oriented vehicle. Small enough to park easily with excellent rearward visibility. Large enough inside for my family of 4 (two of us over 6' tall) because the 2nd row is actually more roomy than my wifes Audi Q5. Fold the rear seats and put down a protective cover and I can fit my mountain bike in without removing the wheel. Did I mention 800 volt architecture makes it faster charging than cars $20K more expensive! I must mention my only complaint is the headrest forces my chin to my chest unless I drop id down to the back of my neck instead of behind my head where it was designed to prevent whiplash - is this all newer cars?! I'd buy an aftermarket solution if available. Would rate comfort a 9 otherwise.

Excellent vehicle with 1 minor flaw

It's no wonder this vehicle has won so many awards. From looks. Feel, ride and comfort, it is truly world class. The only flaw(s) is the lack of a rear wiper. The other is the dealerships marking up the price which leads many to go far out of state to get one.

Nice car but the quoted range is a joke

I like this electric car a lot as far as styling handling an interior, but the quoted 303 mile range is only under optimal conditions, which the average driver is probably never going to achieve. I have not yet driven it in the summer but in the winter if you use the heater you can expect a minimum 20% decrease in range closer to 30 if you use the heater, wipers, radio, defrost…. I do not like taking long trips with it because of the unpredictability of the range. Or being so desperate for miles that you have to drive an unheated car

2023 Ioniq5

I love my 2023 Ioniq 5 SEL because it rides smooth. Since I live in apartment, the app allows me to prewarm my vehicle. The safety features are amazing to have. There should be more EV charging in areas where my family lives.

2023 Ioniq 5

A new learning curve for sure. Fun to interact with. Salesman was very informative. My daughter helps me figure things out. I would have preferred the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited, but the dealership was not getting any in for at least a month, so I got the SEL version.

Deserved 3023 Motor Trend SUV of the Year!

I have owned three Tesla’s and they are getting too common and boring. I looked at multiple other EV’s and the Hyundai Ionic 5 Limited was easily the best car for the money. It is attractive, comfortable, functional and has adequate power.

Love this car

Great road car. The handling is fantastic. Quick charging. Stylish easy to get in and out of. People stop me and ask about the car. Downside I only get about 245 not 303 miles. You do have to change your life around to fit in charging but it is worth it.

Well-designed EV with decent range and an excellent user interface (controls)

I wanted a small, well-built comfortable battery-powered SUV, and this was it. Compared it to Kia EV6, Genesis GV70, Ford electric Mustang, and Tesla Model Y. The easy-to-use controls set the Ioniq 5 apart from the Tesla, and the higher rear roofline makes it more functional as an SUV than the Kia, Genesis or Ford.

Quick, comfortable, quiet car with one wart

This is a really neat car. Comfortable, fun to drive, stable, and super quiet. Acceleration is great when you need it, and there are options out the wazoo to make it respond to the accel pedal the way you want. I like it a lot and am looking forward to summer mountain trips with it. One big "but" is that there is no rear window wiper, and in climates where you car gets dirty (Colorado winter) you will never be able to see out the back. I think that is a big flaw, and that the car needs either that rear wiper or a camera-based rear view mirror. They could have easily piped the back up camera signal for this, but did not. It's really the only big issue I have.

Lot of good features

Enjoy most aspects of the vehicle, but very disappointed that the vehicle was advertised as 303 mile full charge range. I never get that even with all accesories turned off. Only get 270-280. Also a $55000 vehicle should have a powered passenger seat. It does not.

Love it.. except for the lack of rear wiper

I truly love this car, it’s comfortable with plenty of space inside, handles the highway perfectly and has very little cabin noise. However, the lack of a rear window wiper is a major design flaw. The rear window visibility during the rain is near zero creating very dangerous driving situations.

Great vehicle

Very happy with the vehicle appearance, quality, comfort and quietness. Very fast and fun to drive. Impressive handling. Back seats comfort and leg room is better than most luxury vehicles. When compared with much less priced vehicles the lease cost is well worth it.

Enjoying our Limited

AWD - IL winter battery range as expected (about 1/3 less than advertised); charging infrastructure biggest challenge for fast charging; enjoying all the little local trips and driving by gas stations. I'd buy this car again - no regrets.

Great car ... but charging is an issue

The Hyundai Ionic 5 deserves all the accolades. It accelerates smoothly, drives extremely well, offers the ability to customize your driving experience, looks great, is more than comfortable ... but range anxiety is real, and in the Midwest, charging is still a challenge. Finding charging requires a mishmash of apps, many of which do not provide updated or accurate information. Even some Hyundai dealers are loath to let their chargers be used by anyone who's not a customer of that dealership. Come on! EV adoption benefits everyone – and it only works if everyone works together. As a result, we're a little scared to take an amazing road-trip car on road trips. Someday soon, hopefully ...

We love this car

So far, this car has been great. Usually, with a new car, you have a punch list of things for the dealer to resolve. So far, except for one very minor rattle, we have none. We are pleased with the whole buying experience. We love our electric car

Buyable, liveable EV

Driving a well-built EV is a dream, and this is no different. There’s a reason it’s won a lot of awards. And it’s just affordable enough and with just long enough range that I think anyone could live with this car. If a car like this could drop in price by $10,000 or more, it would be a must buy. I love how spacious it is—in the seats and in storage. I love how fast it drives and handles. I love how quiet it is. It’s an amazing car.
