Interesting Ironiq

The good, Bad, and not really Ugly. You want 200 characters? Why? I just wrote a novel doing this survey and when I got to the final pages it does not even have my car listed. So all my work was done for a car that I cannot select because this survey company does not update the selection. Go figure?

My Ioniq

This is a well thought out car. It is zippy and maneuverable, responsive, fun to drive. The car definitely has some nice touches. It is an affordable competitor into the hybrid market--nicer feel than a Prius, not as nice as, but also not as pricey as a Ford Fusion Energi. Good value for the money, great warranty, great financing.

I love this machine!!!!!!

I traded a Cadillac for this car 4 months ago and I have NO regrets! I absolutely love driving this car. The MPG is amazing! I love going to the gas station twice a month instead of once a week! You want a car that will save you in the long run? If so, buy an Ioniq!

Hyundai IoniQ sel

Only have 2300 miles on so far but am very satisfied so far. Gas mileage ranges from 43 to 50.6 and am looking forward to summer and hopefully 55 mpg. is a little difficult entering and leaving the car unless I slide the seat all the way back.

Love my Car

I've wanted a hybrid for years, but could never justify getting one economically. However, the price point of the Ionic made it a great deal relative to the other cars I was considering. Even at current gas prices, it will save me money over the life of the car. Now that I have it, I love its performance. Acceleration is very good, particularly in the Sport mode, which I mostly use when turning left in heavy traffic. I live in Wisconsin and its handling on snow and ice is excellent. This is a big deal to me, but not one I could really test before buying. I was actually happy the first time I had to drive my new car in snow. It handled perfectly (steering, acceleration and breaking). I also like the appearance and comfort.

Ioniq

Great car and really fun to drive! Excellent gas mileage and plenty of leg room for those folks that have long legs. It has an excellent back up camera and superior indicators to warn you of people in your blind spots. Wonderful car to drive all around and great finance at 0%...not a bad deal.

Love this car

We really love this car's looks, price and the warranty on it. It has a little more room on the inside for passengers. it has a smooth ride and comfortable seating. However the headlights seem to be very bright which makes other driver unhappy.

Ioniq

I love my car. It drives well and gets great gas mileage. It needs more pickup when going up hill but otherwise, it has a comfortable ride and seats. It is also very quiet when not using gas and I love it.

Happy with my hybrid

It takes a little adjustment knowing the car is on, since it makes no noise. I like the car a lot, adjusting my driving to achieve higher gas mileage is interesting but you definitely go a long way on a tank of gas. I recommend this car.

2017 Ioniq Hybrid

I'm on my third Hyundai lease with my first a gas powered Elantra, my second a Sonata Hybrid and my third an Ioniq Hybrid which I picked up at the end of October 2017. I'm a big fan of the Hyundai brand in terms of the features per dollar and I don't think you can touch their trim levels for the money in any other brand. I keep a spreadsheet of my mileage and my Sonata Hybrid was rated at 38 combined and according to my spreadsheet I hit 38.5 combined over my 3 year lease so the ratings were spot on. I expect the Ioniq fuel economy to be spot on as well based on my 3+ months of ownership thus far. I looked at getting another Sonata Hybrid but decided on the Ioniq because I commute 60 miles a day and wanted the better gas mileage. I don't generally carry many passengers or haul stuff in my car so the slightly smaller size wasn't an issue. So far I think this is a fantastic car. It has a reasonably firm ride, tracks well at highway speeds (70 MPH Turnpike here) and handles predictably. I like the regenerative braking on this car much better than the Sonata but it's still a bit funky and requires getting used to. I really like the charge indicator that kicks in when you lightly apply the brakes which allow you to maximize the recharging by modulating the brakes. I would rate the overall stopping as adequate but this car won't stop on a dime. Visibility is not great but high mileage cars tend to have a mid-window rear spoiler that gets in the way and this car is no exception. Because of the spoiler the bottom half of the rear hatch window gets very dirty and when it's raining the water doesn't clear so you can only really see out of the top half of the window. The aerodynamic shape also means big pillars and smaller windows but again, it's something you get used to and can adjust to. Acceleration is surprisingly good for such a high mileage car and I never feel like I need extra horsepower for passing although I'm not going to win any races. Even with more the unexpected power the car gets terrific mileage. I'm just wrapping up my winter driving which in my Sonata Hybrid reduced the mileage by about 20% because of the temperature and winter gas mix. That's a dirty little secret they don't tell you about hybrids but I knew this going in. Batteries and electricity is affected by temperature and when it's cold the car runs much more on gas engine power. The other dirty little secret is that the benefit of the hybrid doesn't kick in until after the car is warmed up which can mean 3+ miles in the winter before you start getting the rated mileage. Short trips like a mile or less, you're pretty much running on gas when it's cold out. Regardless, when I first got the car at the beginning of November I was getting 60+ mpg on the highway and even during the coldest of days I could still get 50+ mpg on the highway. So far my combined is about 49 and based on my experience with the Sonata Hybrid I expect that over the life of the car I will achieve the rated combined mileage. The last bits are styling and capacity. I like the styling of the car and have actually gotten may compliments on how "sporty" the car looks. I think for a high mileage competitor it's as stylish as it gets. I really like the interior which is well laid out, functional and comfortable. The materials seem to be reasonably good quality and the car definitely does not feel poorly made. The seats are firm but not quite firm enough to my liking but are very comfortable none the less. I've owned 2 Volkswagen cars and an Audi so I am used to rock hard seats. My family and I are what I would describe as average sized and the 4 of us fit very comfortably. The rear hatch is big enough to carry groceries, sporting equipment, musical instruments, etc. and with the fold down seats you can pretty much carry anything reasonable in size. Overall, I'd give this car an A+ so far.

Did I get a Lemon?

When I first saw the Ionic I really liked it. When I drove it it was as good as I expected. The dealership in Concord CA was OK. The car was a “used” car with 485 miles on it. I was told it was returned because the client wanted a bigger vehicle. Turns out it was returned but still claimed for the tax break. A scam? I was told all warranties were in place and that the tax break would be mine. So far all is he issues I’ve had have been covered under warranty, but here I sit for the second time without my car or a loaner due to the coolant leaking out in less than 2 days. It all started with the transmission motor recall that I was not informed of until I took the car in for it’s 7500 mile service. The car was sold to me without a front license plate holder and when I took it back to ask about it I was told I would have to pay for the holder as well as the installation! California requires a front and rear license plate so I would think Hyundai would provide it. As I sit without a car I bought with 485 miles on it I have to wonder if the dealership scammed me.

Excellent fuel economy

Gets around great in the snow, my wife leaves for work before the snow plows get out. Love the fuel economy so far the highest has been 53mpg. Averaging about 45mpg in the winter with 10 minuets warm up.

Gem

The Hyundai Ioniq is a gem of a car. The price is reasonable. Creature comforts in the way of seat adjustments and climate controls and seat warmers are major upgrades that sealed the deal for me. Best of all gas mileage is fantastic.

What a car!

I was so glad to have found this hybrid Ioniq from Hyundai! I LOVE the car. I commute over 60 miles a day and not having to get gas but every two weeks really helps my wallet. I bought this as my forever car since I'm looking to retire this year. I love driving it and so far, it's really comfortable. The sound system is great and there is so much room in the back seat for my grandkids. I can't help but feel good with I get in the car.,

Ionic comments

I had my doubts first, but after driving my Ionic for almost a year, I am totally satisfied with my Blue Drive Ionic. In fact why don't all the Hyundai's have the blue drive system? Just think of the gas saved by using this blue drive. I have so many compliments on my car and the color of it, that I have to show them the details and engine performance so I have handed out cards from my salesman Warren Molica at Reliable Hyundai in Springfield, mo. I get anywhere from 50-60 MPG. How great is That? Those Koreans are just an amazing people and inventors. Thank you!!!! Richard Kemp

Great Car.

I drive about 100 miles a day going back and forth to work, and about 35,000 miles a year. The feel and comfort of driving the Ioniq is great; less road noise than my old Prius. Even my kids like the styling of the Ioniq, and no longer joke about me driving a golf cart.

Loving my Ioniq

I love my Ioniq. I drive about 45 miles one way and love the MPG I am getting and the comfort. For a hybrid it has better pickup than my Prius on the hills I drive. We are looking at getting a second one in a year or 2 for my husband. He takes it on the weekends.
