Mazda CX-7; I wish they still made them!
I am almost to my 8th year with my CX-7 and honestly, I could not have asked for a better car. Admittedly, I take very good care of my cars, but even so, it has been very reliable and low-cost to maintain. There was a recall issue involving the timing chain, but that was cleared up. As a fluke, it happened a second time, but that was handled by them as well despite being past my 70,000 mile warrantee.
The Mazda CX-7 has been the perfect car. There is nothing like it on snow and ice. It is a heavy vehicle (one of the reasons I chose it) and it's AWD is superb. It also has tremendous pick-up and pep. See a hole in the line of traffic ahead, and you are there in an instant. We have been able to take as many as four adults and all our gear for 4 or 5 day get-aways to the coast and everyone was comfortable. The only downside of the car is the mileage is not stellar. I average 19 mpg with mixed driving, but I do tend to have a heavy foot. My current odometer reads nearly 92,000 miles and I am hoping it will last me to 200,000. The longer I have it, the more I love this car. If they still made them, I would buy another. The CX-9 is too big for my needs, and the CX-5 may be too small, but I will visit it when that time comes.
I always liken the Mazda line to RC Cola. When you think of cola, you think of Coke and Pepsi. But when you have an RC Cola, you think, "Gee, this is great! Who knew?" When you think of Japanese cars, you think of Toyota and Honda. But Mazda's are just as good, just as dependable, and helluva lot more fun to drive. Zoom Zoom, indeed.
