It's an EV life
Purchasing a LEAF was more of a life change than I realized it would be. Purchased primarily as a commuter car it has served wonderfully for 99% of my outings. Getting the most out of the battery seems to be an ongoing game. During the winter, I tend not to use the HVAC, relying instead on the heated seats and steering wheel to keep warm. Even if I'm only driving 4 miles!
I wish that the defrosters would run off the 12-volt battery, rather than depending the main battery to generate heat. This would help the overall efficiency of the car during rainy days, and colder temps.
After 3 years, there is definite degradation of battery life, but I don't usually go on long trips that require the full range of the car. It just means I need to charge every 2-3 days instead of every 3-4 days.
This car is amazing to drive, it has 100% torque from a complete stop, it has a low center of gravity, and I never have to go to the gas station!
