Not Ready for Prime Time

Aside from the fact that I think Elon Musk is a jackass and needs to shut his piehole, his car is far from perfect. I am always having small electrical issues, but the biggest problem is that when the car is on autopilot, it will continually slam on the breaks (the phantom breaking issue). While I know this happens with flashing lights, it misreads other situations, too. It also has issues when a lane merges or another lane is suddenly added. The car would be much improved with a backup system such as radar or LiDAR technology. Cameras alone don't do it. Most of my driving is on highways. I drive close to 700 miles a week which is why I purchased an electric car. I do not like the fact that the car has so many blind spots. It is sometimes frightening to change lanes using only the screen since some cars that weave in and out are not caught on the screen in time. That is another reason why this car needs to be redesigned. I also feel that the ability of the car to automatically change a lane when you put on the blinker is something that should be standard, rather than the self driving upgrade. That is the one feature I'd like. However, the biggest issue is that I bought a Tesla charger and had it installed by a Tesla recommended electrician. It was done to code, inspected, and worked for a year. I paid close to $5,000.00. Then, an issue occurred and the box almost melted. It was sheer luck that it didn't ignite or electrocute me. When I called the electrician, he blamed Tesla, telling me they knew about this issue. He had two other clients who had the same issue. Pretty scary. I'm seeing Tesla today about it. All in all, it can be a fun car to drive, but it has a number of issues that need to be resolved. I am sold on electric but will never purchase another Tesla again, and when Musk dropped the price by $20k, it means I am stuck with this car. When I get enough money, it will be a trade in. Customer service is also non-existent. Shut up Elon and fix your car!
