Head-Turning lines that simply grow more classic
Unclip the top; push the button… the top is down; you’re on your way… up the coast to Santa Barbara. Shall we stop for early lunch at In-N-Out in Ventura? Let’s press on 25 minutes more to Montecito, drive under the 101, cruise East Beach’s Art Festival, to lunch upstairs at the Santa Barbara Yacht Club’s Pier… for the morning catch. Sit down, skip the menu, ask, “What’s fresh?” And have the best-prepared seafood ever! After… a stroll along the breakwater near high tide. Trying to stay dry. Look at the old abalone boats, trawlers, and maybe the odd purse-seiner; a wooden ketch or two. Want to stay the night? Resorts are a lawn away from East Beach. A mile more takes you back to Montecito, across the tracks to quaint hotels and cottages that were used by Hollywood royalty. Tomorrow? Take the convertible shopping up State Street, walk the grounds and architectural beauty of City Hall. Have a sandwich at the little café across the street from the North Lawn. Head North to a tour of the Mission. After… evening, still top down, find the North end of “APS” (Alameda Padre Serra) up in the hills behind Santa Barbara. Slowly take it to the end of APS at five points where you will get lost. One road takes you Westmont College; another to the orchid greenhouses, another to the high school, yet another to the fire station and church, still another to downtown Montecito… and one to the freeway home hmmm that’s 5 roads and 7 places… *chuckle* I did mention you might get lost.
