Well made vehicule

I bought it brand knew back in 2002. They only had a V6, 3.4 liter engine, I was hesitant in buying it but it turn out to be a well built motor with less issue than the V8. And I wasn’t planning to tow anything with it. Never missed a day of servicing since day one. I have today over 165,000 mile and still run strong. It’s a perfect size p/up, with the 60/40 bench seat, fold down center console. It can seat 6 a little tight but 4 comfortably. Love the suicide cab doors, can change clothes down the beach. I’m 69 year old, hope it well be my last vehicule.

22 Years Later...this is still an awesome truck

Yep, bought this Tundra new and 22 years later it still drives like new. I'm betting I'll still love when I hit 30 years. Dropped air shocks into it a few years back...now it drives a little like a sports car.

Best Deal Ever

Bought my Tundra in 2002 from Michael's. Worked with GREAT Sales Team headed by Kai. They Listened and worked to meet our deadline for delivery with all the extras that we wanted. Additional undercoating, moon roof, Rhino liner, canopy and extended warranty. took the Tundra on a 5000 mile road trip to a bunch of off road areas in Oregon, Utah, New Mexico and Arizona. Went perfectly. We continue to take long trips around the West. We are over 250,000 miles and going strong. a Great sign of the way Michael's takes care of our vehicles and us. THANK YOU, Kai, Brain, Adam and a few that have retired.

Very Reliable Beautiful Truck

One of the Best vehicles I have ever owned. At 250,000 miles it is still going strong and looks great . It drives like a dream. I do recommend the early years of Tundra! We have driven it on very long trips 800 + miles each way and around town. Love it !

Best vehicle ever

Dependable is the best way of putting it. It's even better when you have a great garage to take it to for repairs like D & D of Waukesha and again I have my safe dependable vehicle back and running again.

Craftsmanship Is Alive and Well

A simply beautiful and practical design for someone who needs a pickup truck to do what pickups are made for: light hauling of furniture and household projects: towing small campers and boats and cars: and most importantly, a reliable and easy to maintain truck that keeps working hard all the time.

My Trusty Tank

It may not be pretty, but it has been a durable, reliable tank for me and my girl! I'm not a huge fam of the access cab doors, but it can be nice to have that space opened up when needed. I have owned it for 13 years, and will probably keep it as long as I can.

Best truck I have had

I have had this truck for 14 years, I bought it used and have put 300,000 miles on it. It has a good ride and plenty of power. The transmission and motor have never given me any trouble. The paint is starting to fade on the roof because the truck sets outside all the time.

transmission issues with 1st gen Tundra

Nice truck & reliable and hell except that nearly all the 2000 - 2002 Tundras' transmissions will shell out about 150k miles. Swapped in a used 2003 transmission & good as new. The 2003 & 2004 transmissions are engineered much tougher. They bolt right up & plug right in to the truck's electrical system.

02 Tundra

I love my Tundra. 304k n going strong, I know after high mileage that other vehicles have to replace ball joints and control arms on at 1-150k miles I now at 304k miles have to replace. I've been looking to upgrade to a newer tundra and I'll be keeping my 02. Selling soon my 01 tacoma that's a good runner.

02 Toyota tundra

300,000 miles and fit as a fiddle! Rebuilt tranny at 200,000 that’s it as far as big stuff. Runs strong. Oil change every 3000 and only Castrol synthetic. Hard on brakes but put high performance on and fewer issues. Original owner, luv my truck!

I love my Tundra!

Tucker, my tundra is my baby boy. He has been a flawless vehicle for 18 years. A starter replacement, situated under the engine manifold (STUPID), let to a series of issues, as the engine was being disturbed in what should have been a simple service. And a few normal wear and tear repairs, that had bad timing. (harmonic balancer failed on the way home from replacing the injector seal that were throwing a code because of leaks). Features are standard for a 2002 vehicle. Mine had a cassette radio when I bought it. I will be getting a new Tundra when I decide to replace him. I hope it will be a good as my 2002 Tundra has been.

Perfect vehicle for any kind of weather

I love the Tundra. It has high mileage, but the high quality of the vehicle shows through. Goes great in snow and mud and is great all-purpose hauler. Useful bed configuration and great performance when loaded.

This vehicle just keeps running and running

Last February I returned from a long trip to Texas and pulled a fully loaded 6x12 Uhaul trailer back through winter weather and this 2WD truck continued to impress me. Its V-8 engine never missed a beat and it continues to hide its age of 16 years. We tend to keep our Toyotas past 10 years and, with proper maintenance, they just keep running and running.

Perfect Size. Extremely Reliable

I bought this new 2002 Tundra to replace a 1999 Ford 150 that blew out its transmission just out of warranty and had had numerous recalls. The Tundra was the first of our four Toyota family and have thoroughly appreciated the reliability and engineering that went into our 2002 Solara, 2007 Prius, and 2010 Prius. The Tundra’s original battery lasted ten years. It hauls horses, gravel, yard debris, and furniture. The bench back seat is great for dogs and boxes and adults only in an emergency. The clearance around the rear tires make putting chains on and off very easy. It only has 75,000 miles because my work commute is under ten miles round trip, but I expect it to last another sixteen years trouble-free.

Best truck I have ever had

I have had my 2002 Toyota Tundra SR5 for 11 years. It had about 100,000 miles on it when I bought it, but had records of care with it. I now have over 314,000 miles on it and it keeps on going. I just had it first tuneup done 3 weeks ago, I do have it serviced regularly and repair items that wear out. But I have had no major issues with it. When I decide to buy another truck, it will be a Toyota and probably a used one with a few thousand miles on it

200,000 miles on my 2002 Tundra

Love my 2002 Tundra. Wish the new ones were just as dependable. Seems like modern technology has overtaken solid workmanship. I don't need bells & whistles. Go back to basics. If Toyota had a diesel Tundra that lasted 300,000+ miles, I would consider buying one (but not at $65,000 like other diesel truck companies)

Best Half-Ton Pickup

We bought this vehicle after our American half ton truck's transmission went out at 37,000 miles; just out of warranty. That was the last straw dealing with that brand's service department. At the time we also had a 1992 Honda Accord and newly purchased 2002 Toyota Solara. We needed a pickup for hauling a two-horse trailer, yard debris, compost, gravel, and lumber for DIY projects. In the fifteen years we have had our 2002 Tundra, it has never been recalled, only had scheduled maintenance, and the original battery lasted ten years. It has been dependable to the enth degree, and we are completely satisfied with it.
