Not your typical "SUV)
With all of the "crossover" vehicles out there today one has a wealth of choice if mere appearance is all that matters. Of course if you want a bit more than "ground clearance" like the ability to take a curve at speed, or to stop from 60 in a reasonably short distance, your choices get significantly cut back. As a certified V W G T i "nut" from way back (1984) I was tickled pink to find that the VW Tiguan has no idea it isn't a sports car. They drive very much like the pocket rockets I love so much. To get this much fun in another "crossover" you are talking BMW, or Porsche. The Mazda's are close, but they lack the build quality, and solid feel of the VW's especially at speeds over 70 mph. They are no where as competent in the stopping department either. I drove every other "small" crossover on the U S market before deciding on the Tiguan, and nothing else came close in terms of power, control, comfort, and performance, at the VW's price point. (Up in BMW, and Mercedes territory is where the competition begins)
