Underrated jewel
The XC903.2 FWD is quite possibly the nicest car I have ever driven. Don't expect a hot driving sports car, and don't expect to haul a construction site full of materials, and don't expect to get 30 MPG. DO expect to be relatively refreshed when you arrive at your destination. DO expect to get reasonable SUV fuel economy. DO expect to carry up to 7 people, though the 3rd-row seating is better suited to very small framed people. DO expect to enjoy many upscale luxury textures and ride quality, as well as the peace of mind that Volvo has earned where safety is concerned. The 3.2 has been criticized by some for not having the power of its turbocharged siblings, but I believe it has ample power to get the job done. It also is in a sweet spot in my opinion, where it has better fuel economy than the V8 and avoids the transmission problems of the T6 models. The 3.2 was made to displace the T6, I believe, and leave those problems behind, from the 2007-2014 year models There was a very disappointing model of XC90-the '03-'06 T6 model with its nightmarish transmission self-destructing at various miles on the odometer throughout the world. THIS (the 3.2) is not one of them. Our family is considering finding another one or two of these to add to our ever growing need for transportation as the kids get older and need to have a safer car for college.
