Scam

This place is a joke. I went there in November for a consult for weight loss help. They ran tests and told me they would send for approval to my insurance company. I never heard back from them. I called numerous times and never received a return message. When I finally got someone they told me they sent my prescription to my pharmacy. When I went to pick it up I was told that it was not covered by my insurance. I have tried numerous times to get an answer as to why they never called me to tell me whether my insurance company approved or not. I am still waiting for an answer.

Do you just post the below message so that people who read this review think you are taking care of the issue? Because I emailed you right away and once again, never heard back.

And then on Google reviews they asked me to contact them so that they rectify the situation. I did and guess what? Never heard from them again.

STAY AWAY

NEVER COME HERE - DONT EVEN CONSIDER

If I could give this office and staff zero stars I would. They make wait 30-40 minutes minimum after your scheduled appointment no matter the occasion - I experienced it with ever primary care visit and even their cardio (Dr Ehrich) multiple times. They have called me more than once in the day of my appointment and said they can no longer have meet at the scheduled time. Today I arrived at my appointment end of day and their office had decided to close early with no notification issued to me - just 24hrs after I had confirmed it with them! Their communications service SUCKS - outsourced IT that puts up a fight (or lies to your face) when you ask to speak with the front desk. I tried to stick it out with this office for over 3 years but after being disappointed by their process, service quality, and experience EVERY TIME enough is enough. I am going somewhere an extra 12 blocks away just to FORGET how all encompassing their shortfalls were.

HORRIBLE!

RUN! This place is a SCAM that only wants your co-pay and to bill your insurance. I should have known something was off when I called the office’s number and got a call center in India…and when I asked to speak with someone at the actual office, they said "I can't transfer you."

The wait times are long, the front desk staff is rude and inattentive, and the medical assistants don’t even know how to draw blood and take a person’s temperature. Y’all, I thought I was in the Twilight Zone visiting this office. A medical assistant who doesn’t know how to draw blood or take a temperature?????

Moreover, Dr. Mauricio Silva, one of the center’s “leading” doctors, is incompetent and does not know much about medicine, which is sad considering he is DOCTOR (smh).

There are thousands of medical offices around the city that you can find on ZocDoc or by doing a simple Google search. Do not waste your time with this predatory medical center.

Unethical providers are scamming patients

STAY AWAY AND FROM THIS UNETHICAL MEDICAL PRACTICE.

Echoing the many other real patients at this facility, I can attest that Manhattan Medical Arts is a money making scheme first, and a medical provider second.

I went for a standard annual physical, which should be 100% covered by my insurance. I even verified this with the check-in staff when I arrived.

So I was surprised to receive a bill for nearly $300 a few weeks later. After MONTHS of back and forth with MMA's billing department, during which I was repeatedly assured that this was an error that they would resolve, I finally spoke with someone at my insurance company who informed me that MANHATTAN MEDICAL ARTS PERFORMED SEVERAL UNNECESSARY TESTS THAT ARE NOT PART OF THE STANDARD ANNUAL PHYSICAL, AND ARE NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE.

The MMA provider did not inform me that any of the procedures she was conducting would create additional costs for me.

Moreover, they informed me that I would receive the results via phone call from the provider. Right before the call, the operator told me that they would charge me $70 for the provider to read my test results to me, which I promptly declined, since they had not informed me of this charge when scheduling the appointment. Following this, it took THREE WEEKS of consistent follow-up until my lab results were posted in the online portal. So either they withheld my results, or they didn't even have them when they scheduled the call. Unbelievably, a week later they charged me a $70 "no-show" fee.

Based on the many reviews and complaints they have received about these same issues, it's obvious that MMA is aware of these issues and intentionally continuing to exploit patients.

Office is Unresponsive

I have recently had two major issues with Dr. Hanif’s office, despite me being a patient there for two years. On June 5, 2023 I had a physical in which I received a Covid booster. To date, no records of this booster was reported to the.NY State Board of Health and the office has told me they are unable to report my booster despite receiving procedures from the Board of Health. Worse than this, I called on Sept 29 and left a message that I tested positive for Covid, had symptoms, and requested a prescription for Plaxlovid. That message was never returned, nor were subsequent phone calls to find out why. I was eventually told that if I wanted to communicate with the doctor or office, I would have to leave a message on their patient portal. I left several, and these were never answered. Further phone calls resulted in no satisfaction on either issue, and I was told Dr. Hanif would only communicate with me if I scheduled a for-fee teleMed appointment, which I did not need. I am no longer confident that Manhattan Medical Arts has any concern for its patients and will not return to this office for care.

The staff at Manhattan Medical Arts are amicable. They treat me with great respect. The wait time was only 5 mins long. Dr. Hanif was very caring, listened to all my complaints, and gave excellent advice. Thank you for the service.

HORRIBLE SERVICE

I’d give zero stars if I could. Don’t waste your time here. Saw them after I got hit as a pedestrian; the first visit went well but the specialist they referred me to takes a while to get into/with the tests. Tried following up via their portal, text and calling as I needed some paperwork signed for work. No response. I had to make an appointment to talk to someone. They refused even after I explained my situation with the specialist. What doctor’s office doesn’t even try to emphasize and help the patient out? All I needed was a doctor’s signature. First primary doctor I’ve come across that flat out refused to sign this form. This office doesn’t have your health or wellbeing as a priority. Completely disappointed.

Billed and yet never had, nor made any appointment

Stay away from this place.
I initially called to make an appointment to see a medical doctor; I reiterated I needed to see a medical doctor. The man I spoke to avoided affirming my request. He finally admitted no doctor was on duty. Consequently, I told him I do not want an appointment. I will go elsewhere. It was clear cut that no appointment was made. All was blatant, no room for misunderstandings. There were no obfuscations, nothing alluded to.
But, today I received a bill of $70. for an appointment that was never made.
This is not an error; it is a fraudulent billing.

My Worst Experience

The office is clean. The desk staff were polite. The wait was not long. The care given by the doctor I saw left much to be desired.. I was scheduled for tests that were not indicated and without explanation. Labs were ordered but the clinic staff was unable to draw my blood after 3 attempts. At the follow-up visit, Dr Duker was reluctant to accept results from the outside hospital lab that did my get my blood. And though she complained about this throughout the visit she did not address my abnormal results. I mentioned that if her facility had been able to draw the labs, the results would be in her system. For this she called me condescending and wrote in my chart a diagnosis of "anger reaction". I never raised my voice and though frustrated by her tone, I was not angry. She was very rude for this televisit and had a poor bedside manner during our prior in person visit. I regret returning after the first visit. I was just hoping that I would get competent care. After a very cursory assessment of my health (incomplete physical exam and history) she put diagnoses in my chart that were incorrect and refused to remove them. She never sent the medications to the pharmacy for my asthma though I requested this both times I saw her. She refused to discuss some of my other tests results after deciding that she no longer wanted to treat me as a patient because my "tone made her uncomfortable". I never raised my voice or used inappropriate language to speak to her. I don't know why she said this. She refused to take care of me but gave me a referral for specialty care. That made no sense. I told her that I was disappointed in her decision not to treat me. She said I was condescending to her and we were not a good match. This really was my worst experience seeing a doctor. She lacks empathy and is unkind and her competence was not displayed in our time together. I wish I had seen the many reviews about her poor bedside manner before I booked the first appointment so we didn't waste each other's time. I hope she doesn't treat all her patients this way.

Still traumatized

This place is unprofessional, disgusting and full of scammers. I firmly believe every five star review I’m seeing was paid for by the owners (or their family) . Disgusted with their service and staff.

Find another Medical Practice

My partner and I were appalled by our treatment. They failed to respond to multiple phone calls and messages. Promised test results that never appeared for days past the date due. Caused us much anxiety and additional costs and days lost on our trip because of their failure. Plus one of the techs used a rubber glove after picking it up from the floor! When the report finally came Thru it lacked the date necessary to make it acceptable to the government.

Amazing Experience!

I came in to see Dr. Duker in search of a new primary care doctor. I am so happy I did! She was knowledgeable, kind and very informative about my lab results and the tests I had performed. I would totally recommend!!

Unethical practice

This place is an appointment mill. Even during a pandemic, they refuse to just refill regular prescriptions. I tried to get my doctor to call me back for two full months and she never did. Avoid this place like the plague!
