New Car Serviced Incorrectly, Leaking Oil
I have never written a bad review, no matter how bad the service or experience was, but for this dealership I have made an exception. If you look at the past 6 newest reviews, I am not the only one who has received a terrible experience, and if you are looking for a Subaru, there are other dealerships in Seattle. While the sale was not a pleasant experience on its own, this review is in regards to the service that was provided, and after a month of trying to get this resolved, I was left with ignored calls and emails.

I received a new 2023 Subaru 6 months ago from Michael's Subaru, in which I inquired about my first service/oil change, where my request was ignored by the Service Manager. I felt that getting this done at the dealership I purchased from was the right thing to do. I brought my car in with only 2000 miles on it, and was left with a car that was leaking oil. I ended up having to take my car to a mechanic to have it inspected and fixed. While getting a service as SIMPLE as an oil change was all that I needed, Michael's Subaru could not do this correctly, in which I had to pay to have my car serviced twice and my 6 month old car fixed.

If you care about how your car runs, I would like to reiterate that there are other Subaru dealerships out there that may not lie to you and ignore your requests because they do not know how to handle it. Even after I found out that their service did not complete a simple oil change correctly, I did not want to write a bad review. After a month of my request to resolve the payment for an incorrect job, I find myself here with the worst customer experience I have ever had. PS - their worker stalled out in front of me while taking my car to the garage

Not honest or trustworthy service department
I purchased my Subaru at Peninsula Subaru in Bremerton and have had it serviced there for many years, making the long drive from Bellevue to Bremerton for its regular service. I live in Bellevue and decided to give Michael's a try because it is so much closer to my house and I had seen all the commercials. They did all sorts of work for $1500. My dad felt I overpaid so I decided to take it back to Peninsula Subaru for its next service. Mind you, I have known the family who owns Peninsula Subaru for years. They are dear family friends and regardless of that, have great honest business sense and are well respected in the Kitsap/Pierce county region. They told me that my power steering fluid was dark brown and that it needed to be reflushed. My dad told them that I had paid $150 to have that done at Michael's Subaru just a few months before. I called Michael's Subaru to talk to someone and Shelly was very defensive. All I was trying to do was find out what happened and was very nice, not accusatory at all. I scheduled to bring my car in for an appointment for someone to take a look at it and the Service Advisor was like "it doesn't look that brown to me." I was brushed off and handed off to the person who had originally helped me with the service. They eventually fixed it and did not charge me, thankfully, but did not own up to their mistake and it seemed like I was inconveniencing them. I was not given a copy of the service record and called to follow up and asked them to email it to me. I am not confident that I will receive a copy. I think Michael's Subaru overcharges and is a machine that just cranks out services and is not honest. I will not bring my car back here. My friend has his car serviced here, too and said he has heard similar things about this dealership, but has not experienced this himself. I do believe there is some sexism involved here.

Beware the tactics of the finance. Dept. We’ve bought cars at five dealers in the area over the past 30 years and never experienced anything like this. Our mistake was thinking they wouldn’t verbally lie about things so easily checked on paper work, but we were wrong and they depended on that. Of course we signed the papers so the blame falls on us, but if you’re reading this I hope you can avoid our mistakes. The finance person never gave us anything physical and only answered questions verbally until the end when we were signing. She also did not give prices until we asked for them. First, I said I did not want a warranty option with towing and road service ( classic vs gold in Subaru speak). She said that wasn’t available on new cars you had to get that. She never used classic and gold wording and only offered a 3600$ plan. The paperwork then indicated that it was indeed the gold plus upgrade I said I did not want. She said the seats had already been treated and we had to pay for the warranty to transfer to us. We were happy with a 1.9% 48 month loan from chase and she said for 2.2% we could get a 60 month and lower payments. Since we pay off early usually that sounded fine. Well it’s from a credit union in Idaho and on the paperwork is 2.49% and doesn’t have a three day recourse. She never walked through the numbers with us and sent paperwork in .pdf so harder to look at until later. Check paperwork thoroughly because even saying no is not enough apparently.

Average not wowed or exceptional
We have a few other cars one of which is serviced at the makes dealer and one that is serviced by our mechanic. Our Subaru is only serviced at Michael's Subaru. In March it went in for routine maintenance per manual and immediately on getting it back my wiper fluid was empty and would not work. Normally our other mechanic and the other dealership as a courtesy top off the fluid levels of the cars of ours they have in for routine maintenance. Not so or no indication of this with Michaels service center. So I popped the hood, and there was a huge rodent nest absolutely visible from the storage container and battery area. I poured in washer fluid, upon trying to clean the front windshield it came pouring out and it turns out the hose was chewed in half by the rodents. I'm not even particularly car savvy and I could readily see this nest and the chewed hose. It was a little irksome that it had JUST returned from them and it was entirely overlooked. I do not think they are offering me the service that I am getting from our other trusted mechanic and the other dealership. I suppose they ticked the boxes with their routine scheduled maintenance but definitely didn't go above and beyond or think outside the box for that matter.

Don't trust this dealership
I bought a used Audi in November 2020 from this dealership that appeared to be in good condition and was told it had a clean history. I did not take it to an external auto shop to have a pre-purchase inspection as I was buying from a “trusted” dealership. This turned out to be a mistake. Within a month, the clear coat on the front bumper and right passenger side door started to flake off in large chunks. I took it to an auto shop and was told the car had been wrecked and had considerable body damage - and that it had been repainted poorly. They could tell right away just from feeling the door panel, and said that any auto professional would be able to notice this upon inspection. The dealership waxed it to hide the flaking clear coat from a potential buyer and I noticed it the first time I drove it in the rain. I’ve contacted the dealership twice and have not received any remedy for the damaged car they sold me. I do not recommend making a purchase from this dealership.

Totally painless, right price, quick process
John was great. He was very knowledgeable about the vehicle and easy to work with. The price they came up with for our trade-in was right inline with what I was expecting. When he came up with the price of the car and I countered, he was empowered to go to the computer and figure out the lowest price on his own without having to go to a manager or get someone else involved. Finance still took a long time, but that was no surprise. I would go here again for sure.

First oil change
Everything was great. I would give 5 stars but found later when I got home was that the air filter was removed for inspection but when reinstalling it, the two metal snaps were not secured in place. Little thing but should be carried out or it could be something else that could be a lot more severe.
