A Brief History of Riker’s Automotive & Tire
1909-1983
Since the creation of the automobile, the Riker family has been repairing vehicles in central Florida. Before that, David O. Riker built and repaired wagon wheels locally.

In 1939, Orval A. Riker purchased commercial land and constructed a large repair facility with a gasoline pump out front. He named the shop O.A.Riker and Son Garage. Although this shop was sold in the 1970s, it is still being used for auto repair today.

In 1973, O. Vernon Riker opened his first Chevron service station, located at 6908 Sandlake Rd. near I-4. He soon had two additional stations, one in the town of Windermere and another at Sandlake near the airport. These stations all had service bays and did complete automotive repairs.

1983-Present
In 1984, V. Brent Riker opened a Mobil station on International Dr. near the Civic Center. This station had three service bays, did complete automotive repairs, and was one of the first Mobil Lube Express stations in Florida. Riker’s also operated tow trucks from the station. It was not long before these three bays had more repair work than could be done. Land was purchased and the present day ten-bay facility was constructed at 5700 Central Florida Parkway. To date, this shop is the only Bridgestone/Firestone affiliated dealer with an Orlando address.

In 1997, the Mobil station was rebuilt without service bays and the towing business was moved to 1930 Central Florida Parkway.

In 2000, the business was again expanded to a three bay Pennzoil Express Lube with a full service carwash at 5694 Central Florida Parkway.

In 2007, the Riker legacy continued to grow when the newest location opened at 7375 South Orange Avenue.

Great attitude
While on vacation camping we had two tires that were low. Pulled in and Shawn immediately assisted us. He helped us out of town campers wanting no payment for his services. We of course gave him a few bucks. Totally recommend

Excellent
After a long day at Sea World we pulled out of our $40 premium parking space and over a gigantic lug nut. We took the car here and had amazing service. They were honest, and had very fair prices. Elwin was awesome and he really sympathized with our situation. He got the job done as fast as possible and us back on our way. Thank you for making a terrible situation not so terrible!!!

2009 chevy suburban.
I took in my suburban that I loaned my daughter and friends to go to Disneyland 1500 mile from our home in Texas. The vehicle made the trip all the way to Orlando and had brakes on rear of car go out and ruined a rotor. I don't know anyone in the area so my wife researched and checked reviews and found Rikers auto and tire. We spoke to Ralph and he said he was really busy and it may take until Wednesday to make repairs. Which was not to bad considering spring brake weekend. So he called with a quote for new rotors and brake pads 598,29 yes sounds exspensive because I can do that job at home for around 200.00 but don't forget to take in consideration that price would be me doing the labor and buying the parts so no labor paid. I think this is where people believe they are being ripped off but you have to think of it as if you owned a shop what the cost are to light it, buy supplies, pay employees, and all the overhead that is figured in. I feel like I got a very fair shake from people I don't even know because I look at the whole picture that is being painted. So before you write reviews that are harsh and buisness losing to a company think it all out before you blast them. My car was done and on the road the very next morning. They spent the week and enjoyed themselves and the vehicle made the 1500 mile trip back to Texas. I believe this is a great place to do buisness and kept the number in my phone in case any more trouble arose. I personally think Ralph and the crew did a great job.

Easy and great!
I went to get my oil changed, and the front desk was friendly and helpful, which is surprising considering it’s 8:00 AM on a Saturday. They were quick, and everything was easy! The waiting room is stylish, has 50¢ coffees, and DirecTV to make you feel right at home. Would definitely recommend!

Go Here If You Enjoy Getting Ripped Off
Do NOT use this mechanic. I have tried to use them a couple times now as they are in close proximity to my office. Both times they quoted astronomical prices compared to competitors and this last time they even charged me $25 for a quote. Yes, your read that right. They charged me to tell me that they were going to overcharge me! That's a first for me!

So close. Service is great
Everything was wonderful. It was my first visit and I will come back. The quote time was off for my oil change. I was quoted 30 minutes and it took 1-1 1/2 hours.

Quick Turnaround on Fuel Pump Replacement
I cannot speak highly enough for the work done by Riker's to replace the failed fuel pump on my 1999 Mustang GT. I had my car towed into Riker's at 10 PM, first thing the next morning they called me to confirm the fuel pump was bad. A new fuel pump was installed by 3 PM. Perfect service!

Your Employees.
We are new to the area, and this has become our new favorite place to bring our vehicle. The service is great and the prices are reasonable (no, no one paid me to say that lol) Thanks Rikers!

Highly recommend
Short version, daughters Nissan started running rough and check engine light on half way back to college on a Sunday. ( 3 hour drive ) They diagnosed the problem and called me with a simple repair. Could have taken us to the cleaners, but fixed it promptly and had her on her way!!

Ron G. from Riker's Automotive And Tire Centers Inc. responded on 12/03/2014 07:01 AM

The Customer requested work done on 10/23/2014. We diagnosed the 2001 Mercury Sable LS, as having a cracked Engine Coolant Water Outlet, where the hose connects to the engine. We quoted a price of $422.32, which included a diagnostic charge, replacement of the part that was cracked, labor to replace the part, and coolant.

We told the customer that it is possible that there will be more issues, due to the nature of the cooling system and it will depend on how hot the car ran. We even printed this warning on his receipt:

"Be advised that if the car has been overheated, that internal damage may have happened to the engine or heads of the engine. The total damage might not be determined until the engine is back in working condition."

On 10/24/2014, he returned with a complaint of overheating. We brought the car in the shop to diagnose why it was overheating. We found that the Water Pump was now leaking. We quoted the work to replace it but we were being told that we had mis-diagnosed the original problem and that we need to repair it for free.

After many discussions, we settled on a reduced price to repair the water pump.

It is common, after a part is replaced in a cooling system that other parts in the system will start to fail, due to age and the stress of being overheated. That is exactly what happened in this case. The weakest point was replaced, which then puts more stress on the other items. After we repaired the part, the car left the shop without any leaks. It took over 50 miles for the water pump to fail.

Bottom Line:

We repaired the car correctly!
The part we repaired did not fail!
We could not see that another part was about to fail
We stand behind our work with a 2 year, 24 month warranty
We gave an extensive discount on the repair of the water pump.

Thank you
