Great car for the money so far
This ioniq plugin hybrid gets great mpg for country driving and is really easy to charge at home with a regular outlet. We were concerned there wouldn't be enough chargers in a rural area but it charges well at home and even with the "29" mile electric only range we consistently get 35+ without using any gas - enough to get to church or the store and back. But on longer jaunts the gas is really great to have. We took it on a getaway and made about 70mpg on average, mostly highway driving. Overall, we really like our base model phev. The price was right ($24k off the lot), the rebates are great, mpg is excellent, and ride and features are more than you expect from an economy car like a Yaris or Fit. Oh and when you test drive don't for get to pop it into sport mode and feel the difference in performance. Some reviews complain about grabby breaks - if that's the case for you make sure the regenerative system is all the way off, the one we tested first had the Regen system on part way which made for a rough ride at first. With that off it handles really easily and once you get the feel for using the Regen it's easy to use. Oh yeah, and all the driver assist features (adaptive cruise, lane assist) are subtle, easy to use, make the drive better, and stay out of the way.
