Best choice for a compact suv

I have been driving my Kona for a year now. It has performed beautifully in all types of weather and road conditions. It is a pleasure to drive. I still get frequent compliments on how great it looks. Drives like a sports car. Love the HUD!

Basic but mighty!

Basic but mighty! Those words fit my little basic Kona. Yes I leased the basic model with no bells and whistles, But I wouldn’t trade this vehicle in for no money. Rides well great on gas and it’s a perfect fit for me. The size of it is neither too big or too small. I love it! Try it on for size you just might like it as much as I do whether it’s the basic model or the souped up model doesn’t matter it’s a great vehicle!!!

GREAT VALUE

I LIKE MY NEW KONA. I HAVE DRIVEN SPORT CARS FOR 30 YRS AND NEEDED A FAMILY CAR. IT IS A STEP UP FOR ME BUT NOT ALOT OF SPACE IN BACK HATCH TO CARRY GROCERIES. WILL GET A LIL BIGGER MODEL IN THE FUTURE. GREAT GAS MILEAGE AND VERY SPORTY!

Kona is cute and sporty!!!

I actually loved this car...it was just a little small for me (this why I gave 4 star vs. 5)...drove well and was super cute...I traded up for a Tucson due to size!!! If you want a cute little cross over that is great on gas and fun to drive I would definitely recommend the Kona!!!

Better Than I Expected

bought the 2018 Kona Ultimate AWD with the 1.6T and it has far exceeded my expectations. We get 32 mpg (29-30 if we are pushing it on the interstates). Have taken 2 trips to FL from WI and it has performed over and above in mpg, passing ability, the GPS accuracy, the Heads Up Display and the blind spot warning feature. For the price point this car has impressed me with all of the tech options it has as well as the safety options. It has a sporty feel and the appearance is tough looking. The warranty brought me in, the features will bring me back.

Poor vehicle

700 miles ... I only had the Kona for a few weeks. It was too uncomfortable as it was difficult to initially sit down and be comfortable. I would have to be completely centered in the seat, otherwise the left or right side of the back of the seat edge would press. against either shoulder. It is as if the seat was to narrow to accommodate a Male 5’11” 190 lbs American body frame ?? The other problem was the automatic breaking feature. If there was a vehicle protruding into the lane in which I was driving, say by a couple of feet and I swerved to drive around it carefully ... the Kona would abruptly brake automatically ... which initially scared me, as I am stopping uncontrollably... without warning !!! Poor design of automatic breaking !!!

Love my Kona

This car is fun to drive. I love the hatchback and the android auto, as well as the overall style of the car. I’ve had this car for a year now and have never had any problems. I’m happy with my decision to purchase this car.

Good small suv. Great storage for Costco runs. Good handling in snow. Nice moon roof very durable: nice safety features. Navigation system tricky. Lane handling and back up cameras are great. Good fuel economy

Just love my Kona!

All in all the best thing is the gas mileage. 34 mpg city. Back and forth Santa Fe 47 mpg and yes I was at or a tad over speed limit. Plus the display is easy to read. Easy to enter and exit vehicle. Great sight lines. Plus as a small SUV will hold a couple of hay bales. No hay bales will hold 120 pounds Kingsford" charcoal bags.

Love my Kona ‘18

Zippy. Parks great. Fair gas mileage. Small cargo space. Comfy backseats. Needs better driver lumbar support. Apple Play sucks/never works consistently or for more than @ 25% of the time. So maybe the sound system needs improvement?

great on GAS- cute- not the most comfortable car - but I am getting use to it - however there is a MOLD MILDEW SMELL every time I turn the air conditioner on for the first time of the day - NO ONE AT THE DEALER CAN FIX IT OR EVEN TRY TO LISTEN TO ME/// It is slow to accelerate- however when you put the sport on it is better- The defroster is slow -

The More I Drive It, The More I Like It

It seems each week I'm discovering either new features of which I wasn't really aware or new and better ways to use them. For instance, my three constant dissatisfactions with the Kona was 1) the noise drastic noise levels inside the car, especially encountered on concrete pavements such is common on interstate highways /bridges and some older asphalt surfaces, 2) not being able to see the instrument panel when using the tilt steering wheel in a comfortable position, and 3) AC/heat system vents that can't be adjusted for maximum driver and passenger comfort. Of these, I recently discovered with the help of my dealer's service staff that I didn't have to rely on viewing the standard needle-type odometer in the instrument panel but could switch to a digital mode. This one discovery seems small but large to me. It means that after a year of driving the car, I could easily view my driving speed without straining my neck to look through the steering wheel or over it. The other two still bug me, especially the road noise, but resolving one out of three helped greatly. Otherwise, I really enjoy this vehicle.

After one year and 13,000+ miles

Highs; Handles great, looks good in red and black, simple but functional controls, great (32 city, 37 hwy) gas mileage, roomy and versatile and easy to keep spiffy outside. Lows: Poor acceleration and sometimes balky transmission (highly unusual considering the 7 Hyundai cars I have owned in past 16-years). Otherwise a fun, fun car to drive! I only wish the Corporate people who read this (are there any?) would give some consideration and respond to my not so complementary, but constructive minded comments and not just take for granted my continuous loyalty.

Excellent but...

I own 4 Hyundai's. The only issue that I have about this car and (all Hyundai vehicles) is the plastic or material (s) used for the interior. These materials become sticky and tacky to the touch, there fore also attracting dust, lint and dirt. These materials are nearly impossible to clean and difficult to maintain its original appearance. I believe this a real negative issue, because touching, cleaning and the appearance of a car interior is critical to its appeal, use and up keep. Its important to note that the failure of these interior material(s) is a natural process of its aging, heat, sun, ambient, etc.. and NOT due to cleaners or products applied. As much as I love Hyundai's vehicles other great qualities, the interior material(s) issue(s) may drive me away to other car brand/make choices if these interior factors are not properly addressed.

Great car

I find the Kona a very reliable car and for the price it is excellent. Good gas mileage and maneuvers very well. great turning radius. It gives you a nice feel for the road. My only complaint is that it needs more noise reduction. on rough roads its hard to talk.

Nice sporty little thing

On my 3rd Hyundai and I’ve loved them all! 2007 Santa Fe, my favorite. 2016 Tucson roomy and great price. Now my Kona which I enjoy the sporty ness of it but not much room to move. I wish I had gotten a better “package”. Feel like it needs some things that are missing. Will definitely go back to leather, bigger tires & probably turbo. I feel like the Tucson has more to offer over Kona. The new Santa Fe is too big for just me.
