It's a Goldilocks car - just right!

Leased our 2024 Kona in early 2024, have had it now for a little over a year. Absolutely love the car and I plan to buy out the lease. Got the Limited trim because I wanted the cooled seats, heated steering wheel, etc. Very easy to drive, easy to charge up, comfortable, and futuristic looking. Good range as well.

Excellent First EV

My wife and I are very pleased with our 2024 Kona EV. We've learned a lot about EV, and many of our fears were unfounded. Range anxiety has been an issue when traveling to more rural areas of Virginia and Tennessee. Definitely use a route planner, such as PlugShare to see your charging options beforehand.

Kona review

I totally enjoy my Kona, I love the styling and all features of this vehicle. I only have two complaints about my Kona. 1. My passenger rear panel has come apart from the body. It appears that not enough automotive adhesive was used to secure it properly. 2. The hood is not aligned properly. I will be taking it to the dealer to see what can be done to correct the issues.

Car had paint damage not visible during the delivery. Hyundai talked a good game but it the end they did nothing. So I have damage paint on a new car. I have purchased seven new Hyundai in the last ten years. Not a good way to keep a customer

Great SUV with One Flaw

Overall, I really love this car. It has many excellent features and looks great. The interior is functional and well thought out. My only issue is with the battery holding charge. Several times when I attempted to start the car, the battery was dead. Dealer was not helpful in resolving this issue and I had to purchase a battery charger. Based on comments in the Kona Forum, I have turned off several available options, including the Bluelink app, which appears to have resolved the problem.

Hyundai gets almost everything right!

The Kona EV is a great introduction to all-electric driving. The design of the car inside and out is futuristic and includes great tech. However, Hyundai doesn’t get everything exactly just right. This is the top trim (Limited), yet there is no seat & mirror memory. I’m the kk do of guy that takes a couple of weeks to find the exact right seat position, so I don’t let anyone else drive this car. But I am really pissed when the car wash attendant moves my seat. I can’t see why Hyundai did not include this feature - all the motors and switches are in place, it shouldn’t take more than an extra microcontroller and a couple of switches to implement, therefore very little extra money. The front cabin needs more storage (sunglasses, coins, tissues, napkins, notepad, and more). The 1st thing I had to do was order a padded console organizer so that hard things (sunglasses, pens, water bottle cap) don’t slide around and make a not-so-quiet cabin even noisier. The driver’s seat is too sit and firm. I all too frequently have to shift my body around to keep from feeling pain & stiffness. The cabin should be quieter than it is, but Hyundai must have left out any sound isolation treatment of any kind. Now that I got the negatives out of the way, the tech is fantastic. The wireless Apple Car Play is fantastic, along with the two large, wide screens; never a disconnect. The 360 all-around camera view is also a must have in my next car - the ability to pull in and out of spots with ease. I only drive about 5,000 miles per year, so charging my Kona once a weeks is just right for me. If we need to travel long distance, then my wife has a hybrid SUV that we can use.

Improved vehicle could be even better

After having the first generation Kona our biggest complaint was the size of the backseat which was improved in this model. We really love the overall size of the Kona, it’s great for in town driving, easy to park and maneuver. The efficiency is excellent after a year we’re averaging 4.1 miles per kWh. With an 80 kWh battery it would be a great for 300+ miles. The only other aspect I miss from the previous Kona is the HUD.

great for local runs but I don't think it would be good for a long trip to small of a main battery. I have ran this kona in the snow not real good but did get by also I did try a Tesla super charger and it worked fine

Given the price to the market, the car was worth the money.

The 2024 Kona EV handles well. Given the high front end, this car needs a front camera. The air conditioning is fine in terms of energy usage even in sync mode, but the heating is an energy hog taking over 4KW when in sync mode at around 50% Fahrenheit. More importantly, I deem the heating to be barely adequate, so I have to fuss with it. (By the way, the first thing I will check when buying my next EV is heating, and then air conditioning.) This car's biggest deficit is the climate control. No one wants to be cold in the winter, and my winters are relatively mild.

Full of tech for half the price

Full of tech for half the price of up scale competitors. Great styling. Good dealer support. Best yet, the center councils is small and I can move my legs around avoiding DVT on long trips. A rare feature these days.

With all vehicles, each have their flaws

Car rides great. Space is excellent. But 6 months into ownership, my car had a dead battery due to a parasitic drain in the car. Dealer wasn’t able to find a fix. Sunroof occasionally doesn’t respond. For a car that costs this much you would expect it to work as it should.

I am enjoying driving my Kona. He is very good on the roadway. I love all the cameras in my car. The size is just right. The trunk is a good size to accommodate my husband's walker. Very sporty looking!

I loved this car

This car was my favorite car. I was devastated when it got totaled. I was bummed that it didn’t have wireless CarPlay and I hated the positioning of where the wireless charger was located because my phone didn’t fit mostly and when it did the wireless charging was inconsistent. Very smooth ride and I liked the design and look of the vehicle

Great safety features with no automatic trunk release. The color was too dark. The highway mileage was great. Driving on the highway was great. It’s feel was smooth and steady.It was very economical on gas.

Battery problems

I love my car until this January which was 10months after I bought it, it started having battery issues. I left the country for 2 weeks and came home to a dead battery that wouldn’t hold a charge. The dealer replaced it under warranty. I didn’t think much of it until around March where it kept happening again. Dead battery, I’d charge/jump it, it’ll hold for 1 use, then it dies again. I once again took it back to the dealer and they said it’s another “faulty” battery so they replaced it once again. I shouldn’t be having these problems within a year of having a brand new vehicle. Unfortunately, they really can’t provide me with any answers as to why this keeps happening. Other than that, I love how it drives and I love the bells and whistles it comes with.

Kona is all I want it to be.

I love my Kona and get lot of compliments on it. Drives beautiful and has so many safety features. Besides those it is easy to navigate the computer system, I am still learning. A few question but overall I am still in love with my car!

The tablet part sucks

The vehicle is great the computer portion that allows you to use voice call etc...SUCKS. 1/2 the time it tells me it can't do what i ask it to do even though it did the same thing every day for a week. Then for a week it doesn't do it, then it does. I hate that tablet.

Mostly wonderful

Low range in cold weather is worse than expected. Blue link will only work while phone is in car, so no pre-starting in winter and cannot charge above 80%. Dealer could not fix this. Everything else is fine.

Wanted to love it but it has some disappointments

I fell in love with the way this new design looks on the Kona, and was so excited to get my hands on one last year. The interior is great, and all of the extras on the LIMITED model are awesome. I was hoping to love it, but I got stranded a few times with a dead battery, after only driving the car for less than a year. I am hoping the problem was fixed recently with a software update & recall. Fingers crossed! The reason I got a new car was for peace of mind, safety and reliability. Being stranded in the winter is not something that should happen with a new vehicle. So in the meantime I drive around with a battery charger and jumper box in my trunk-which is insane to have to do with a new car. The only other main complaint I have is the transmission on hills. It lurches sometimes either going up or down hills when you have the car in Sport mode. It feels a bit weak in that area of driving performance. The fact that you can't turn off the automatic rear trunk from opening is also actually a big downside for me. I was hoping to use a trailer hitch bike rack but you can't go near the rear of the car without that door opening up. These are the kinds of things you don't realize until you've owned the car for a few months. Overall it really is a nice vehicle, and would recieve a much better review but having been stranded from the dead battery has left a bad taste in my mouth unfortunately, and has ruined my trust. :-(

Amazing small SUV that does everything right and it is a lot of fun !

I have nothing but praise for this little CUV. My daughter primarily drives it but I drive it too at least once a week and I absolutely love this Hyundai Kona. The vehicle has lots of space in the trunk too and the Apple CarPlay integration is amazing too.
